Will Curry make the All Defensive Team in 2022

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Mon Nov 22, 2021 12:23 am

For the 8th time in the last 10 season, GSW have the #1 ranked defense.

Curry again is playing fundamentally sound team defense but is also showing elite isolation defense.

Currently the in the last 15 games, the opposing PG or whoever Curry is guarding is only shooting 32FG%, with only Trea Young and Ja Morant able to shoot above 50FG% in their games against Curry.

Curry should easily make the 2nd all defensive team. Like Stockton and Kidd, will Curry be able to make the 1st all defensive team?

On 15 game sample? Nah. Come back in six months and we'll see.

That is being rude to Stockton and Kidd, to put Curry in their category.....especially Stockton, legendary defender.
What's next.....comparing Curry's defense to Gary Payton?

The final sentence is a bit much, but objectively Stephen Curry has been playing excellent defense this season.

I think Curry can beat out CP3 for all d-team.

I don't know if Curry can beat out Marcus Smart and Ricky Rubio for 1st all d-team

Curry's star power and wins could get him a few more votes than Smart. We will just see what happens at the end of the season. But for this season, Curry is easily a top 5 defender for PGs.

I'm a fan of Curry's defense, but no.

It's not a question of whether he plays good defense, it's whether he plays better defense than the guys who are ahead of him in line to get an all-defensive spot. You think Curry is a top 4 offensive guard? Marcus Smart, Jrue Holiday, Lu Dort, Fred Van Vleet, Eric Bledsoe, KCP, Kyle Lowry, just off the top of my head.

Citing his team being #1 in defense as a reason he should make the team is like asking whether Royce O'Neal is one of the 4 best offensive forwards in the NBA because the Jazz are the #1 offense.

Curry is the #1 option for the GSW, Royce O'Neal is not, the usage is vastly different... the analogy only works if you say "like asking whether Donovan Mitchell is one of the 4 best offensive players in the NBA because the Jazz are the #1 offense"

The answer is no.

And further more, he'd be extremely stupid to wear himself out trying to make it. He's playing well defensively and should just focus on maintaining that level without wearing himself out.

I don’t know that he should, since he’s not a top 4 guard defensively. Then again, Kobe getting a single nomination outside of 00 or 01, let alone 10 others (!!), kind of destroyed the award’s credibility
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

Steph is actually playing really good defense..probably due to him putting on some weight and muscle. He isn't getting pushed around anymore and his effort has been great but I don't know if he can keep this up all season while playing at the level he is offensively. If he does, he should be drug tested lol but as of today I think he should get some all defensive votes from the guard position. He's been really good

This is an insult to true elite defenders like Alex Caruso.

Caruso got absolutely cooked when he tried guarding Curry.
