How is he still the coach? Debating if I want to waste my time on the game tonight. I'm mentally checked out. Lasted about 13 games this year.

Because the optics of firing him and then watching Christie or Jackson (assuming one of them gets the interim nod) go 0-9 or 1-8 to open up their coaching career isn't a good look. Let Walton take all those Ls and protect your next coach.

It could be because unlike Walton they know how to develop young talent. If this continues they have no reason not to rebuild. That record of playoff misses is written at that point.

Who cares if they go 0-60 the rest of the way. They shouldn't be permanent options anyways.

The Kings have already said his job is in peril if this keeps up, I doubt they meant for 10 other games.

I dont anticipate him coaching by the middle of next week

Maybe he’ll be able to go on a real Thanksgiving vacation.

I really enjoyed this podcast about Walton and the future of the team. This was before the Minnesota loss I believe, so a bit dated.

https://kingsherald.com/articles/breaking-down-luke-waltons-hot-seat-and-how-the-kings-can-improve-from-here-with-jerry-reynolds/

Start around 33 mins in. Jerry Reynolds gives his thoughts, the questions/opinions seem authentic.

They also follow up with McNair's role/blame in this situation.

The only thing missing is the financials, if it is possible that Vivek is too cheap to permit Monte to of made a switch like over the off season.

I don’t know how any of us can follow this team anymore. This franchise has serious issues that start at the top IMO.

I don't give Monte credit for this. Its 17 games too late. The season is likely lost already.

I'm also not sure I can blame him. I don't think he even made this decision, I'm sure he wanted him gone this offseason and Vivek wouldn't do it. Vivek IIRC has been courtside the last 2 games. I read there were a ton of empty seats. I'm sure this was another business decision that he wouldn't have made if the cost/benefit wasn't in his favor.

Vivek has no interest in winning. Just profit.

I'm not giving credit, if anything I'm criticizing it's taken this long for Monte to move on and remove the safety net.

And they go with Gentry? Lukes lead. This franchise is always a day late and a dollar short along with being shortsighted. smh.

I only have one question....

Was Vivek too cheap to allow Monte to get his own guy in the off season?

Or was this what Monte wanted?

In case it was Vivek being cheap, I won't judge Monte until I see who he has caching sometime next year.

Hope the fan base stays loyal. Vivek does not need the money, incidentally.

not high on Christie, who seems a docile personality, and Bobby, I would be looking seriously at Rico Hines. Has some developing chops as well as some persona to him, nice to see him move up to the assistant chair

Gentry is garbage, but at least it allows Monte to hire his own guy this summer without worrying about the interim too much

McNair presser on Walton.

If you don't want to watch, I'll take some notes.

Ham asked something about the team has pretty much quit on everything the past two weeks, how do you change that? Make trades? Hold them accountable?

Didn't answer.....said we have the talent and have shown stuff early, Gentry will be the one to get us there.

Rico Hines is getting a "promotion" or will be on the bench.

Carmichael Dave asked if there was anything in the decision beyond the record that had something to do with the firing.

Monte did say he wants us to play faster, thinks the Kings can be the fastest team in the league, wants to get defense able to provide for offense. I'm guessing more fast breaks. He had issue with how we finished games.

Asked with the same people around besides Luke, what's going to change?

He brought up consistency, and Gentry has a lot of experience.

Was asked if Doug was considered, didn't answer the question, just praised Doug and talked about Gentry.
