Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Also, Vetori is all All Iron first team. That attack to his left side in the 5th round was absolutely brutal. You could see him suppressing the pain every time kicks landed to his arm and side. He is going to be fuuuucked for a couple weeks. But he never backed up. They are in an open stance, as southpaw and orthodoz, and Costa was starting those kicks with his back foot turned fully at a right angle (like you see no other fighter do because of how comprimising it is to the ability to retreat or move), getting maximum arc and maximum power. But this did nothing to deplete Vetori. Iron.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
He took that kick to the head in the second round but some of those body kicks were **** brutal. Marvin is tough as ****. Costas leg was **** after the fight so yeah marvins gonna be sore.
Costa was such a tool all week. Didn’t give a **** at all. It’s all about money though. He was probably trying to get cut.
Also said he doesn’t get paid enough to fight at 205. Gonna be a lot more drama between him and the ufc. ( Dana said he had to fight at 205 going forward). Costas been bumping heads with the ufc for a minute. This was most likely a planned FU to them.
Marvin saved that fight though. Accepted any weight and took way less of costas purse than he should have gotten.

Some stupid reason this UFC event is on in the afternoon. I got Holloway winning in round 4 by KO (I'm assuming it's a 5 round fight)

Herb up to Herb things again.
It's amazing to look at social media threads about this. If someone questions an Herb decision, you get dozens of people in the comments saying, SO WHAT HE'S STILL THE BEST REF IN THE GAME.
Unreal the amount of power than Rogan has to influence opinions.

Haha. I had a sense via Twitter that people are cataloguing his **** ups.
Last night I saw at least two: (1) he jumped in and made contact with Rothwell and De Lima after De Lima folded Rothwell, then tried to back off and pretend it didn't happen. De Lima looked at him, "WTF?". (2) he jumped in to protect Arce after he went limp but largely missed grabbing Song, who let Arce have an extra three shots (making Song an **** and Herb a baffoon).
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Discuss. I might watch the main event.
Brady vs Chiesa is pretty good. Grant vs Yanez is very nice. Grant throws terrible, wide arm punches and generally seems to have to force everything. I don't even get it. But he's had 3x bonuses in a row. And Yanez is just straight up a killer, a real talent.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

McKinnys story is decent. OD's twice 5 years ago and now in ufc. good life turnaround.

Man, Yanez proves that you can have the most relaxed, fluid, pure boxing style in the sport and not really be that effective if you're not using it right. Petr Yan, Max Holloway...they're doing something strategic, they're not just dudes with good hands.
I have a feeling Yanez's coaches are browbeating, old school types who are not going to adapt him to MMA (not just because one died unvaxxd from Covid lol).

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Fiziev vs Riddell next weekend is NUTS.
Font vs Aldo too, but I am worried about the day we see Aldo's wheels fall off (which, I guess, happened in those two Max fights). Cos Font had one of the most insane schoolings against a tight boxer in recent memory last time.
The weekend after, UFC 269, is has like 10+ amazing fights. Their early prelims alone have Ryan Hall, Randy Costa, and a bunch of other talent.

I just can't get over how freaking incredible Aldo's career is. He was every bit of the phenom that Jones was in the late 2000s, dispatched every single fool that dared enter the cage with him, lost it all in about as embarrassing of a fashion as you can, came the **** back and while he has lost, it's been to guys who look like they're going to wind up being all time greats (Yan, Volk, Max and he really freaking had prime Conor).
Font to me is closer to Chito Vera than those all timers.
What a damn legend Jose is. There's something about this wave of Brazilians between him and Glover. That durability, toughness and resilience to keep at such a high level for 15+ years, ****. Glover fought Ed Herman in 2005. Wild to see when you've got guys like Rory who are cooked by the age of 29.
