He likely does that if the Raptors are willing to pay him enough at 38. But it's more likely he'll just retire following the Roy Halladay example who left the Jays and, despite winning a ring in PHI, wanted to retire as a Blue Jay, so he signed a 1-day contract.

Halladay said the Jays organization helped him to become the player he became and he felt he wanted to acknowledge that, thus retiring as a Blue Jay. Lowry likely feels the same way about the Raptors.

Yet Halladays wife didn't want him representing a team in the hall of fame. His cap had no logo even though he made it very clear his heart always belonged to Toronto. Found that very odd.

I wonder if he ends up signing for the minimum, plays in the home opener, and then officially retires after the game.

This man was the engine to all our squads during his tenure. It's no surprise we're missing him dearly now. Kyle was always a steady presence on the court and a timely bucket getter when we needed him.

Spoiler:
..lol.. It's Fooking depressing

On a positive note who are you guys rooting for in the playoffs Klows Heat or Deebo Bulls?

And can't help but wonder if Fred would have forced up a layup instead of passing Kawhi, in the same situation.

Well we don't have to wonder what Fred would have done in this series. Because this was the third game of three where Fred had gone on the best 3 game shooting streak in NBA playoff history.

I swear....the hate is unprecedented. Fred was an absolute star in this series. In games 4, 5 and 6 Fred was a combined +65. Yet these clowns STILL can't resist the ridiculous comments.

Fred was great in those playoffs, and still I'm glad had the ball in that specific play. Both things can be true.

I'm not a Fred hater by any means, but he was completely neutralized in the 76ers series. One of the worst performances in a 7 game stretch I've ever seen, maybe the worst honestly. To his credit he completely redeemed himself in the ECF & NBA Finals. That playoff run still demonstrated his limitations as a player. If you have a championship caliber team, he's ideally your first guard off the bench in my opinion. He would excel in the 6th man role, but as a lead guard no so much.

If a title contender made a nice offer I would consider moving him. Not a big fan of a guy jacking up 16+ FGA/game who shoots 40% from the field. Especially when you have a future potential super star who needs the ball in his hands.

If anyone needed it, this season is the real wakeup call for how valuable Kyle was.

Our success as a team tracks entirely with his rise as a PG. Winning is so much harder without him.

I really don’t think so. I think this is what happens when you play kids and rookies.

Exactly, we have one of the least experienced teams in the league, especially when you factor OG and Siakam missing significant time.

Do you remember the 2018 Raptors bench? It was guys on their rookie deals plus Kyle and was one of the best lineups in the league.

Reality is, this team was bad before Kyle, and so far has been bad without him. Obviously there are other factors but the reason we were able to build competitive squads with a less than ideal cast was because of him.

I was going to make a similar comment but I refrained because I knew that one of the ardent FVV supporters would misconstrue it as a shot at Fred. It's simply asking if Fred was in the same position would he have had the sense and awareness to make the same play as Kyle, or would he as we have seen countless times throughout his career, have tried to go for a lay up with Giannis tracking him down.

Like it's not a shot at fred... and have no idea how that comes to mind in this thread.

It came to my mind from watching the video of Kyle's great back pass to Kawhi, and then thinking of the "countless times throughout his career, Fred tried to go for a lay up" in those situations. So yes its a little shot at Fred.

None of that is a denial of all the great things Fred DID do in those playoffs, guarding Steph, hitting huge 3's, and more.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

if i remember correctly it had something to do with the way phillies ownership went over and beyond to help support her and her kids (emotionally) after his death and toronto basically sent a card and made a p.r statement.

Lowry isn't gonna tarnish the legacy in anyway.

He will say all the right things and come back to claim the reward as GOAT Raptor when his career is over.

He knows where he sits here.

How about instead of a 1 day contract he instead signs for the vet minimum after his contract ends. He can be a useful presence off the bench as the Raptors are set to be contenders again in Scottie's 4th year.
