D Hunter is no longer an untouchable player in my book.

As valuable as he is, dude is constantly battling injuries and missing months at a time. :brokenheart:

Explains alot of his struggles lately. Just looking at silver lining, it gives more time for the knee to heal. Cam minutes will go way up, needs to find the consistency.

If Cam can't take advantage of this.....

This is his do or die season. The other side is Solo gets more minutes :banghead: :nonono: :banghead: JJ needs to get some rotation burn here. Perfect time with the schedule easing up some.

I will say, D Hunter's frequent injury history likely drives down the cost for his contract extension next summer. He becomes more affordable and will likely favor guaranteed years/dollars over gambling and waiting til RFA like John Collins.

QUESTION: What do we think of Hawks odd decision to release this injury information at 10PM on a Sunday night?
Waiting until the Hawks losing streak is over? Were they about to be scooped and hastily released the information themselves?
Did they just find out after hours themselves?

Ugh. I mean the injury. Love the dude when he plays but this is his 3rd somewhat significant injury in his 3rd year?

I love what he brings when he brings it but to me,
Availability still has to be the best ability.

I’m not looking to deal Hunter but let’s just say I’m open to listen more than I was 24 hours ago.

His jumper was looking shaky this season already. This year is basically a wash for him already.

Chris Kirchner wrote:...the team looks better with Huerter in the starting rotation over Hunter because of his passing ability and shotmaking from the perimeter. Even when Hunter comes back, the Hawks should strongly consider bringing Hunter off the bench until he proves he’s worthy of being in the starting rotation. The player we mostly saw this season before his wrist injury didn’t look like someone who needed to be written into the starting lineup with a Sharpie.

John Hollinger wrote:I think the Hawks will have a tailor-made excuse to bring Hunter off the bench when he comes back (“we’re just working him in, he’s on a minutes restriction,” etc.) and they can just kind of keep rolling with it until Hunter shows signs of being last year’s Hunter. But again, I think it opens up the bigger picture question of what the Hawks can do at the 3. Rolling with Huerter-Bogdanovic on the wing is workable — they beat Philly with it — but it still hardly seems optimal, especially defensively.

Man, some of yous guys wanting to give up on our young guys so quickly. Injuries happen. Let him heal up and come back ready to get in shape for the end of the season and the playoffs.

In the meantime Heurter and Cam are doing just fine

Can't wait to get OO back too. Interesting to see how well the second unit plays when the run with Capela. OO can play that role

Great news, but again, if it's his first full practice now, don't rush him, take time to see how he feels and let him 2 or 3 more game if needed. I don't want it to come in not ready, have less impact than he can, and getting another injury. It would be the worst thing.

I'm afraid that their need to get a better record as soon as possible would lead them to make the wrong decisions.

Once he gets fully back there has to be some fundamental changes. You can't run the guy ragged chasing the best offensive players of other teams every game and expect him to get you 20 after the fact.

Exhausting guys on both ends is leading to some serious injuries for guys that can't handle the load ie Klay and Leonard.
