Get the Lakers a stretch 5

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Tue Nov 23, 2021 8:57 pm

Lakers likely need a stretch 5 to suit Westbrook and help Davis defensively and on the boards.

They'd want to keep Westbrook, LeBron, Davis and likely THT.

What's the best stretch 5 and perhaps big stretch 4 they can get?

It might be easier to list the asset you think the Lakers are willing to offer for such a player.

So realistically, we're talking about Nunn and a minimum salary or two in terms of salary matching? Nunn and a minimum allows the Lakers to bring back about $8.4m in salary matching. Each additional minimum salary they include allows them to take back about $2.2m in additional salary. It's definitely going to be bench fodder type contracts.

I like the Dieng suggestion. Havent seen him this year but he was always a clear plus on defense. Just seems to stay under the radar, but he's a low risk option for some teams. If I was CHA I'd inquire.

I know you said THT is likely off the board, but what about something like THT for Olynyk?

Muscala seems like the most realistic option. LA does technically have the 5 leading the league in 3 point percentage already though.

OKC likes Muscala and Muscala likes OKC. I think they see him as a culture setter and aren't likely to trade him for the kinds of assets that would be on offer (seconds, poor prospects, etc.).

That's true. LA is so asset poor right now and unable to match a lot of salaries out there. Doesn't change anything for OKC of course.

Honestly they should just sign Mike Scott, imo. He at least gives them a power forward who can stretch the court from the bench and it's not like they need him to do much. If he's getting kickouts from Westbrook and LeBron I think he can make a positive contribution for them. They can go ahead and waive Jordan or Bazemore to make it happen.

I like Mike Scott. I like the idea of THT for Kelly if he gets healthy.

Muscala is the vet face of OKC I don’t think he’s going to go for anything but an overpay.

Olynk out for another month or so with a knee sprain

I think we have enough injured guys rn

And I don't think Lakers are touching THT for a vet rn

They need him to become a real contributor for them b/c I don't think Olynk makes us a bonafide contender

Daniel Theis?

Sign Meyers Leonard?

I think he goes only if he ask to go .

There’s no realistic overpay that will get him. Nobody offering a first and 2 decent second doesn’t seems like what Presti might take for spacing for our own offence.

Yeah this is a decent target. Though isn't this the guy the traded Zubac for?

I think Jordan and a couple 2nds may do it. Lakers got a bunch in the Westbrook trade.
