Just over a month in, predict your All-Star teams.

Post#1 » by muzzhawk » Thu Nov 25, 2021 12:05 am

We're almost a quarter way through the season - what are your predictions for the All-Star game rosters based on what you've seen so far?

Who will get the fan votes?
Who are your first time All-Stars?
Who do you think will return after missing last year?
Who are your honorable mentions?

From last year's rosters, Kawhi, Kyrie, Simmons and perhaps Zion are all likely omissions.

Apologies if this thread already exists but couldn't find one.

Zion will get in on fan vote still I think. The other 3 hard to say but Maybe Kawhi also.

He won't be voted in by the coaches, so it's irrelevant. No way he is making the all-star team, unless he plays like a man possessed when he returns

Why would he? He wasn't even close last year in the fan vote, and even if he unexpectedly was he'd still need media and player votes.

You think so?
I'd say Lebron, Jokic, AD and PG would all be ahead on fan vote comfortably.

They should generally I would say no but if the record keeps up they might. Zach more than DDR just because he is as good as last year when he made it and has highlight dunks (yeah that counts)

Starters (based on vote):
Embiid
KD
Giannis
Lavine
Trae/harden

West:
Joker
LeBron
Doncic
Lillard/Davis
Curry

Some won't be deserved to start over others but it's fan vote.

So just chewing on what you served up:

Fan votes - I'm awful at this but:

West: Curry/Doncic/LeBron/Jokic/George

Ja could end up being super-popular, but it won't be easy to top Luka. I'm surprised the top 3 front court guys seem so clear to me, but they do.

East: LaMelo/Beal/Durant/Giannis/Embiid

Back court is a toss up, but I'm guessing LaMelo will get a lot of fan love, and will also hurt Trae.

I'm also assuming Beal is able to keep going with that fan momentum from last time, but if he can't then we might see Trae, or we might see Harden. Y'know though, I could also see Derrick Rose potentially getting in. New York voters are crazy.

Front court again pretty clear, though if Embiid misses enough time, I could see Jimmy Butler making a run.

First time all-stars? Aside from LaMelo, I think Ja is going to have a really good shot. People are going to want to name him all-star.

I think Miles Bridges can get there if he keeps up what he's doing.

3 other guys who currently deserve consideration are Mikal Bridges, Andrew Wiggins & Montrezl Harrell. I think there will be some reluctance with each of them.

Return after missing? DeMar DeRoazn, Draymond Green.

Honorable Mention - Lonzo Ball, Tyler Herro, Evan Mobley, Harrison Barnes

If Trae gets snubbed again, I will probably not watch a all star game until he gets back in one. 3rd in assist per game, 9th in points per game, and his TS% for November is a healthy .601 ( 13 games ). Plus he is the leader of a very solid team...

Fan voting for the East backcourt is really hard to predict. I think that Harden, Trae, Lavine, Beal and Lamelo will end up being the 5 guards selected in the end but any combination could really get voted in to start.
East starting front court should be Giannis, Durant and Embiid. Then Derozan and Butler. Then two of Tatum, Randle and Bam for the last forward and wildcard spot. Although if Lamelo isn't voted as a starter I think you can argue using both wildcard spots for Front court players and picking all 3 and leaving Lamelo off. Will probably depend to some degree on the relative records of Knicks, Hornets and Celtics when coaches pick the reserves.

The West starting 5 seems easier to predict. Curry, Doncic, Lebron, George and Jokic.
Guard reserves then become hard with Paul, Booker, Mitchell, Lillard and Morant
Front court I'd have Gobert, Davis there. Probably Draymond next. Considering they're all bigs and no wings in that group then both wildcards will probably be guards and then only one of the reserve guards above will miss out.

His hype was mainly due to his ballislife videos. His NBA highlights don't even compare to his high school highlight reel. When and if he comes back he'll have to create most of his offense by himself and there'll be no lonzo to give him easy lobs here and there.

Just based on highlights, minutes and points Anthony Edwards has a much better shot at making the team.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

LaMelo should be an allstar over Tatum or Beal if they were picking right now

West: Lebron, AD, Jokic, Doncic, Steph Curry w/ backups being Paul George, Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Ja Morant, and either Chris Paul or KAT/Ant from the Timberwolves. CP3 or KAT might be injury replacements.

East: KD, Giannis, Embiid, Butler, Harden w/ backups being Lavine, Bam, Tatum, Brown, Beal, DeRozan and Trae/Lamelo.

West:
Jokic/KAT/Gobert
LeBron/Davis
George
Doncic/Mitchell/Booker
Curry/Lillard/Paul

On the cusp you've got Morant, Porzingis, Green,

East:
Giannis/Embiid
Durant/Tatum/Randle
Butler/Derozan
Beal/Lavine
Harden/Young/Ball

On the cusp you've go Adebayo, Brown, Brogdon, Sabonis, Anunoby. I also expect Middleton/Holiday to get in the mix here as the Bucks continue to move up the standings.
Go Knicks!

I'd guess KAT will be back in the All-star game. He's top 10 in the NBA in a lot of the advanced metrics (BPM, WS, EPM) so far this year.

If gsw continue on this pace, i can't see them with only 1 player in the AS game.

Need to pick KAT and Morant if their teams are around 50% and TOP10 in the West. So it leaves one spot (Lebron and Davis lock) for PHO, GSW and UTA second player.
