People make mistakes, nobody is perfect and its not like he went on a shooting spree of random people

He is not a good defender though

I wonder if Hou would take 3 expirings and 1-2 2nds for Theis

Save money and get 1-2 2nds

Monk, DJ, and 1 of Ellington/Rondo/Baze

About 20 teams could top that.

Not sure if 20 teams want to pay Theis 9m a year for the next 2 seasons after this

That is a negative contract

You don't get rewarded well, if at all, to unload money

I'd trade Plumlee + 2 2nds for Theis. Plumlee is only owed $4-5M gauranteed next season so he's like 50% of an expiring contract.

One 2nd to offload Plumlee, one 2nd for Theis' basketball abilities. Theis can move to backup C if/when Charlotte ever acquires a real starter, but he'll stem the bleeding in the meantime.

Muscala is the vet face of OKC I don’t think he’s going to go for anything but an overpay.

Olynk out for another month or so with a knee sprain

I think we have enough injured guys rn

And I don't think Lakers are touching THT for a vet rn

They need him to become a real contributor for them b/c I don't think Olynk makes us a bonafide contender

Daniel Theis?

Sign Meyers Leonard?

Leonard makes a lot of sense for them, probably the best player available. There are of course obvious PR issues.

It's the Lakers and Lebron, they already HAVE "PR issues"... But I agree on the Leonard suggestion. Very little downside for the Lakers at this point with not many other options or avenues to improve...

You consider his value at expiring Crap players and late SRP?

Ya I value an undersized C who can barely shoot that has 2.5 years left at around 9m a year for basically expirings and 1-2 2nds at best

I doubt TOR agrees so LAL might have to find another team craving some wrinkly scrubs and late SRPs.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I was talking about Theis here..

If you are talkng about Boucher, I thought 4 2nds for an expiring guy is not the worst if Toronto wants to stock up on a ton of asssets

All i have to say is that i have no clue on why DeWayne Dedmon wasnt picked off the scrap heap.

Dude is exactly waht you're looking for in a cheap stretch 5 that can do other things semi competently.

Realistic trade target wise, the pickings are slim unless teams value the SRPs the Lakers have.

Theis? I would think that an expiring might be his value. A 2nd or two would probably throw it over the edge. He’s not been terribly good for a couple years, and was just paid at the top of his market value (if not higher), and has an ascending contract with 2 more fully guaranteed years on it at MLE type money.

Bigger need is a bigger defensive 3/4 that can guard other teams best large wings IMO

And who is that guy?

I’m assuming we’re not moving THT unless it’s for another young guy

That leaves:
Nunn (prefer to keep)
Monk
Ellington
DJ
Rondo
Bazemore

Assuming Melo and Dwight are staying and Reaves shouldn’t be moved

So expirings and I think 5 seconds, unless we want to trade that 2027 1st

So we need to find an expiring from a team who won’t compete to trade their guy for a couple 2nds

Torrey Craig for 2 expirings and a couple 2nds?

Frankly, if they acquire any second-rate stretch 5 like Mike Muscala or Dieng, the other teams will guard them with a forward and put their center on Davis (and likewise, Davis will probably have to guard the opposition's center). Basically, Davis would be the 5, like it or not.

Muscala is having another season where OKC is good with him on the court (+2) and horrific off the court (-10) so I'm not sure he's actually that 2nd rate, considering how few stretch 5s there really are.

I think he could be excellent for them.

Bagley

I have watched him recently and he’s better than people give him credit for being plus he would be cheap, LeBron would keep him in line & he would jump at the chance to get out of Sacramento

What did you see in his stats for this season that suggested that he is having success as a stretch 5?
