This is the best I've ever seen O'Neal look defensively. 2.7% steal, 2.1% block. He's been all over the court wreaking havoc. Likely because they've been playing him at SF this year so he doesn't have to chase around guys much quicker than him.
But I agree, in general, O'Neal has been dramatically overrated defensively until this year.
He’s just a deflection guy. If you can remember our game last season, we won the game on OT where Tobi attacked him on defense and carried us to win the game.
If you run PnR or dribble drive and force Gobert to step out. Can he rotate to the paint and protect a guy driving to the rim or trying to score off a backdoor cut?
He’s just 6’4”, even if he has to rotate to the shooters he doesnt have enough length to cover.
The perfect defense IMO is the Bucks. And if you can’t or don’t want that much size on defense, then you need a plethora of 6’7-6’9 wings who can shoot like the Warriors.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
