Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect

My thoughts on Chet is he definitely has some skills with the ball but how much of that will translate to the NBA? Also is he a C at the next level? If not i don't see him being very good at pf. He's mobile and fluid but doesn't really look fast movement wise.

He also has a small frame not sure how much weight he can put on and stay mobile.

Chet is a very skilled player who pretty much blocks anything right at the rim. IDK, I'm still iffy on him at that size and weight plus Banchero is big and plays Ike Pistons Blake or something.

Those two teams play each other Friday so it'll be interesting too watch. I also like Jabari Smith Jr quite a bit

Tayshaun Prince's pre-draft measurements were 6'9" 215 lbs and a 7'0" wingspan and he came into the league super skinny. Chet, at his weight, is most likely a SF in the league not a PF or a C.

He won't be able to guard anybody at SF athletically, so he will have to play PF/C where he will get brutalized physically. I don't think he will hold up, and he looks like the kind of guy who is going to have trouble putting on weight/muscle to any degree.

3rd pick of last draft worked out for the CAVS - Mobley. He put on some weight and looks noticeably more muscular than he did 6 months ago.

Could Chet do that?

Nobody ever questioned Mobley’s frame, just his energy level.

No one questions Chet’s energy level, but that frame is horrendous. He certainly could end up great anyway, but I have doubts. A better comp is Poku with more aggression. Poku’s highly inefficient even tho he can do a lot of things.

I was in grad school at UK when Tayshaun played. Being ultra thin doesn’t hurt you nearly as much in college. There aren’t that many bullies. It’s different in the pros, and Tayshaun rightly played SF in the bigs. Chet cannot possibly do that, so even though he’s even more skilled than Tay, it’s a bigger risk. He may just get broken, because he plays hard and as physical as he can.

I’d pick him 5th, sure. But not over Banchero, and not over a few of the scoring guard talents.

If you want a guy in Chet’s mold, wait for that French guy, Victor whatever. He has a frame that will fill out, is even longer, and just as skilled. He’s like an even longer Gobert that can shoot.

I think chet has the highest ceiling, wouldn't mind taking him and waiting for him to develop his body. He has all of the skill, just have to wait on him.

I actually did say I was concerned Mobley was too skinny to play inside effectively in the NBA due to his weight and that he had a frame that didn't look conducive to putting on weight. So far that doesn't look like it's a concern since he's at 215 which is still pretty light at 6'11" and relative to his combine measurements it doesn't appear he's put on any weight. That being said it doesn't seem to be hampering him much; he's averaging 8 boards and 1.6 blocks per game. But that's 25 lbs heavier than Chet.

It’s important to point out the differences out there. What Chet has for him is a lot of length and skill. His issue is not size, it’s weight. He has a bad frame to put on weight so I agree. Now someone compared him to Bol Bol but this guy has great foot movement so no you can’t compare big men like that. Chet is skilled from top to bottom. He will never get big muscles but the real question that everyone is asking is can he put on weight? I’ve seen a lot put on weight but I’ve also seen Gonzaga Austin Daye leave the league cuz he couldn’t put on weight.

I actually think is comes down to Banchero or Smith.

Chet is great, but as many others already pointed out, he’s a twig with little to no frame to add onto. He’ll be like Prince - a guy who will never be able to add weight/bulk.

Banchero is great, but I worry he’s a little on the small side and plays more like a SF/PF combo. Will he bring anything defensively?

Smith is similar to Banchero, but I think he’s taller (slightly).

For sure, pretty exciting draft for a Pistons fan considering their needs.
I didn't really know much about Smith before the season but watching him in the Atlantis tournament was eye opening. How smooth his movements are, his offensive versatility being able to score at all 3 levels, flashed some defensive ability with a few blocks. Not an exact comparison but similar to Banchero in that their offensive games are pretty polished, Smith is probably a better long range shooter at this point though. Impressive start of the season for him.

It's a good draft too in the sense that there really isn't a true franchise player but are a lot of very good prospects so no pressure to have to win the draft lottery, anywhere in the top 6-7 is a good spot. I wouldn't be adverse to taking any of the guards either, Hardy or Ivey. Just accumulate the best talent available.
