He's averaging just one assist more than "average, second year, distributor" Tyrese Maxey and his defence is a joke.

Absolutely not.

He plays within the system because he's young and deferring out of hierarchy. If you told Maxey and Harris to iso every play and rely solely on themselves to get a bucket, Maxey would be much more successful. Harris cannot dribble and he's stiff as a 2x4 plank. Maxey has tremendous handles, change of pace and finishing around the rim.

If Maxey were on an awful team with no aspiration of winning and the ability to take all the shots Like a Fox or Ingram or Cole Anthony, he'd average 25 ppg quite easily. I'm sure of that.

It's about him gaining confidence and also the trust within the coaching staff to let him be more dominant. Once they allow him pin his ears back by understanding that giving the ball to Furk, Seth or Harris off a curl is not a better option than letting him lead guard is when the real Tyrese Maxey will appear.

Maxey going to get a lesson in the value of 3pa going up against Steph Curry and Jordan Poole.

We have nothing - aside from: him, Joel Embiid and the mythical trade value of Ben Simmons

"A pick and roll maestro" EXACTLY what you need in a playoff setting. I'll go ahead and say it. He reminds me of Allen Iverson. A potential ELITE scoring guard. There's no reason at all on Gods green earth why we should even be thinking about trading him right now.

I forgot he ugly cried when we drafted him. He's a special kid. I hope he's here for the next phase of our contention window.

How not to use stats 101.

You're doing a comparison of what his stats would have been playing 36 minutes (last year) vs him actually playing 36 (this year).

Reminds me a bit of Tony Parker. Obviously TP is a HOF legend, but Maxey's ability to score amongst the trees especially with the floaters makes me think of him.

Kid just turned 21 and has already taken a big leap this year. Quit crying and learn some patience.

That said, I'd consider starting Milton and moving Maxey to the bench to get him away from Embiid and Tobias' ball dominance. Let him run wild against second units.

But yes, in time he needs to learn to play WITH Embiid, which means being effective as an off-ball shooter.

Very disappointing that he had an entire year to have it drilled into his head that spacing the floor for Embiid is the key to his fit with the starters and the key to his future as a Sixer....and he's shooting even less this year.

At this point I am no longer surprised... When did the Sixers development program have such an effect on a player? Aside from the asset mismanagement during the Colangelo era, our biggest flaw has been the lack of internal development.

Maxey has gone from impressive to unimpressive in the span of a dozen games. He's far too timid and looks to pass the basketball far too readily. The other night the Sixers were starting a clutch possession and Maxey dribbles up the court and immediately passes the ball to Embiid five feet beyond the arc. Ridiculous, and illustrative that he lacks the mentality to play point guard at a high level right now.

This really occurred when the starters all came back a couple of weeks ago - Tobi came back, Embiid came back, etc. So Maxey went from temporarily being the "main guy" on the team when everyone was out to now being the third or fourth option again.

He's super young and still learning, especially how to play with the starters. Honestly, he's the player I'm least worried about on the Sixers. Dude has gone above and beyond what any of has expected deep down. And he'll keep getting better and better.

I like how they say great players takes what they want.

Maxey is not that and is likely will never be that. But it doesnt mean he isnt good.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
