Knicks trying to add Bronx Steve Francis and Evandon Fournerson to Maplefrid Payton and Bob Slackadoo is the the most tragic thing ever

The Knicks front office is still incompetent. It's just a different flavor of incompetent. Less spectacular, more vanilla.

They might be better at negociating deals or managing the cap in the details, but the long term vision, understanding of advanced statistics or talent evaluation still ain't there.

Oh, get used to "Bob Slackadoo" being Randles new name.

he's shooting 38 percent & 32 from 3. it aint a rough couple games, it's a rough season so far. this is worse than his rookie numbers. you aint getting sh*t right now.

I like RJ as you know but the truth is he wasn't good his second year either. Have to be real.

I'd agree. I was hopeful about the new group, but was witholding judgement until they did stuff, but also who would be the GM.

Now, I think the draft part under Perrin has been solid. Hard to tell where recommendations might get ignored etc.
Cap stuff and extracting extra picks etc good - that's Aller
Pro player scouting and roster construction is Zanin and Perry. They need to fire these two f*ckwits ASAP

When Scott Perry got retained as GM, that was a VERY bad sign.

And then Randle got reupped and Knicks signed Fournier and Kemba. Sigh.

I'm expecting an assraping of Kemba at the point of attack, Randle trying to do too much to "prove something" and the Hawks sending doubles all game long at Randle who will force it because see point #2, and because who really cares what Mitch or RJ are doing on offense, so there is always two players available to double or triple team someone.

the hawks wrote the book on how to defend randle. they made him look bad for a whole series.

Now he just does it by himself

Our best talent is IQ and he has a cap of 20mpg because he doesn't fit Thibodeau's template of a driving guard.

I don't know if it's sad or hilarious.

This franchise is cursed.

My posts contain speculation that poor drafting leads back to Dolan. You should be thrilled.

Thrilled that it only took 20+ years for fans to figure out the obvious?

No, instead I’ll share a dating story that sums up why the Knicks suck— a year and a half ago I was living in Manhattan and dating a tall, blonde, and very attractive Swedish woman (lucky me), but eventually we broke up and she started dating a guy about 10 years older than me who had a lot more money. Enough money to take her to see Trae Young destroy us in the Pandemic Playoffs. She previously had no clue about basketball, let alone the Knicks, but now her IG feed is all about it.

Well fast forward to this season, and her IG feed started off gangbusters from her season seats behind the home-team basket. She basically live streamed the first few regular season games. But guess who’s gone completely quiet on IG during Knick home games? Season seats. Apartment a 5 minute train ride away. And she’s stopped attending games.

I’ve read this board for 20 years now and I’ve never heard a more relevant story about why the Knicks continue to suck. Dolan runs this team as his own personal pet project to impress pretty women who know nothing about basketball. All he wants is enough swag to impress his buddies’ European model girlfriends in the front row.

And it’s amazing how quickly sentiment turns and the NY monied crowd gets angry. Imagine being this new boyfriend shelling out for season seats and now she won’t go to the games.

If you’ve ever wondered what’s going on in Jimmy Dolan’s heart of hearts, try imagining my ex’s new boyfriend paying for lower bowl season seats to impress his girl and now she won’t go

He wasn’t good in year 2 either. but he improved, and his shooting improved to a good percentage, so you’d just hope because of the age and work ethic to improve he was on a trajectory to keep improving the other aspects of his game that still needed work. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and the shot regressed too.

Last years version of RJ is the best he’ll ever be. A stand in the corner and hope he shoots 40% from stationary 3 guy who can’t finish at the rim and below average on defense. Sounds a lot like another guy on this team that’s on a rookie contract.

They had an excellent trade asset in KP but were gun shy when his value was super high.

Knicks have to make a move before teams are only calling about Quickley. I think Randle as the centerpiece with a young player and a 1st can get you something nice on the trade market.

Then what? What nice? Dame won't want to come to a worse team at age 31. Randle is a negative asset with 4 1/2 more years, we're going to have to attach a 1st to get back an expiring deal.

Welcome to hell.

We’ve been in hell for over 20 years, still trying to dig our way out and not really getting anywhere

I actually don’t blame people if they quit watching this team, there’s nothing enjoyable about it, it’s a franchise for people who hate themselves and like to be mad all the time

We're 100% in agreement. I'm mostly entertained by younger, newer fans who think there is hope or competency right around the corner. Like thinking some team is going to trade a great asset for Randle, or that our delusional clown world CAA cult front office would ever make the right move, or that Dolan would actually allow for a true 5 year rebuild.

If we do ever get good rest assured it'll be completely random. Like we'll have odds on the 10th pick and jump to #1.

Edit: Rapestaps is #10 in the league in PER on above average true shooting. Averaging like 25 in his last 7.

The final salt in the wound would be Hurtstaps Porinjured being healthy and playing like this for 60 more games.

I don't know

I can't help but kinda feel optimistic

Cause like, you think about it, right

Kemba, Fournier, and RJ are all mostly bad but do have good games sometimes, Randle's regressed to more or less 2019 form, and Mitch is good but misses time with small injuries constantly. Then on the bench, Quick and Burks are still inconsistent, Obi's a bundle of energy but not much else, and Rose and Noel are both the only consistent ones (and Noel isn't amazing, either)

Really, the only one who's consistently good and plays every game is Rose. And yet, we're 10-9

Call me a homer, but I think we're playing about as bad as we can right now, but we're still over .500, and we will figure it out at some point. You can say we're just getting lucky, and maybe, but I think we're not too far off from being a legitimately solid team like last year. We were 8-11 at this point last year before everything started gelling

Yeah it's kinda frustrating to see, but I didn't expect much from us this year. This was always gonna be a treadmill year to establish continuity and see if someone becomes available to trade for. I think I said 42 wins on the year, and we're on pace for that right now, so it's disappointing, but not unexpected so far.

If we end up 48-34 it's the worst outcome possible. We get ranched in the 1st round, but the morons can celebrate a meaningless seed we mostly got because Thibs is a blessed ape when it comes to opposing injuries. We'll say, "wE bEaT thE lAkeRs, bUcks and SiXErs!" forgetting Bucks were down 3 starters, Lakers didn't have LeCry and the 76ers didn't have Embiid and Simmons.

We need a solid 0-12 tank streak to at least get expectations back to this dimension. It might be the only possible way to get lineup changes and young players minutes. Or Thibs having a stroke I guess.
