PG threads = trade proposals + draft regrets
Why are people so miserable?
My posts contain speculation that poor drafting leads back to Dolan. You should be thrilled.
Thrilled that it only took 20+ years for fans to figure out the obvious?
No, instead I’ll share a dating story that sums up why the Knicks suck— a year and a half ago I was living in Manhattan and dating a tall, blonde, and very attractive Swedish woman (lucky me), but eventually we broke up and she started dating a guy about 10 years older than me who had a lot more money. Enough money to take her to see Trae Young destroy us in the Pandemic Playoffs. She previously had no clue about basketball, let alone the Knicks, but now her IG feed is all about it.
Well fast forward to this season, and her IG feed started off gangbusters from her season seats behind the home-team basket. She basically live streamed the first few regular season games. But guess who’s gone completely quiet on IG during Knick home games? Season seats. Apartment a 5 minute train ride away. And she’s stopped attending games.
I’ve read this board for 20 years now and I’ve never heard a more relevant story about why the Knicks continue to suck. Dolan runs this team as his own personal pet project to impress pretty women who know nothing about basketball. All he wants is enough swag to impress his buddies’ European model girlfriends in the front row.
And it’s amazing how quickly sentiment turns and the NY monied crowd gets angry. Imagine being this new boyfriend shelling out for season seats and now she won’t go to the games.
If you’ve ever wondered what’s going on in Jimmy Dolan’s heart of hearts, try imagining my ex’s new boyfriend paying for lower bowl season seats to impress his girl and now she won’t go

I was going to post this before, but I'll put it in a reply to this, because it fits.
My cousin who lives in Georgia but is from NYC born and raised. He was asking why the Knicks have been bad for so long, but seem to be "better right now". I started in with the usual stuff, trying to give a longer answer about the various failures etc and caught myself about 40 seconds in.
I said "Wait, that's too long winded. Let me give you the short version. James Dolan owns Cablevision. He also owns MSG, which contains the rights to the Rangers, the Felt Forum in NYC, the Felt Forum in LA, shows at Radio City and also shows at the Beacon Theater. To him, the Knicks are just another piece of an entertainment empire, and as long as they are just good enough to fill 40 home games a year, that's good enough. Sure, it might be shortsighted to be mediocre and pocket the $ instead of really good and grab playoff money as well as extra merchandise sales etc, but at the end of the day, Dolan doesn't care because he's got other revenue streams coming in. Strangely, he meddles just enough in the Knicks to keep them sucking though"
