it's insane, Hawks traded Luka Doncic for him and there is literally 0 regret so far and likely it will continue that way, especially if Trae ever gets a ring before Luka

Harden at a career high from 3 and averaging 10 assists per game, trae reaching the same TS% despite less fts. Lillard hitting a ton of interesting midrange shots now, Tatum getting physical inside.
Trae's FG%, 3P%, and FT% are all at career highs right now.

Re: ice trae- stop sleeping
Duh he’s a Nash/Lillard hybrid ultra smart player that teams haven’t worked out yet. The key is to not let him get inside and operate. Make him a 3ball spammer but good luck to that his PG skills are as good as any and his most underrated trait.
That’s why he’ll be better than Dame in the end and have the volume over Nash at the cost of sacking efficiency for reliability.
That first Bucks game in the playoffs was an absolute clinic given his age and being his first play off run. Fav play came that game he actually did a rescan (scanned all the Hawks on the wings and behind when dribbling in, then eyes to the basket then back to the roller to check he if was in a better position then back to the basket again) while having a live dribble before he finished with a floater over a 6”10” guy easily, it threw all 3 Bucks defenders around him in a loop.
Only the Paul/Nash’s of the world as a little PG can do that in real time. Amazing stuff
They do it a lot, draw in defense, fake with head to throw the defenders off then pass/score/shoot.
More of a PG than Lillard
More volume than Nash
But best of both worlds.

I think the young man has decided to play in the reg season and if he keeps this up he will be battling Jimmy and Lebron or whomever else shows up for the 5th all nba 1st team spot
Why doesn’t he get more love here with these numbers?
A non Hawks fan recognizing how truly great Trae Young is on realgm...I...don't know how to respond. Trae got robbed not just of an All Star but All NBA last season. I hope he finally gets the recognition he deserves this season. He's the best point guard in the NBA by far and should be first team All NBA this year.

He's been better than Luka. Add in Cam Reddish and the Hawks won that trade. Both Luka and Trae are generational superstars though so both teams won.

That’s what Trae puts in daily.
Superstar.
The end.
That's the only way to develop that kind of skill and why I tried to tell anyone who would listen that coming out of college he was going to put up peak Steve Nash numbers but everyone kept making fun of the way he looked.
Same goes for Chet Holmgren.. he may be skinny af and look dorky but he has way too much skill to fail and like ice he has that dawg in him.

HotelVitale wrote:Dunno, Trae's awesome and sort of a genius game but he hasn't reached his breakthrough point yet. He's actually shooting less efficiently and producing less than his previous years, and that's after a recent hot streak has bumped up his #s a lot. Dude is a production machine but he's always been dogged by some inconsistent efficiency, and he hasn't put together that brilliant, consistent run yet to put himself in the convo for a MVP guy. Seems like it could happen at any point but he's had a long-standing pattern of hot and cold streaks, and his game is reliant on pretty high difficulty shooting so it's hard to pencil him for that leap just yet.
(Also for all the hype his NYK series got, he had a pretty meh performance in the PO against the Sixers (shot 39% overall and 32% from deep), same with MIL too though he was hobbled by injuries there. Again I think we need to let him have that overall dominant performance before slotting him in the top tier of players.)
So far, career high eFG%, FG%, 2Pt%, 3Pt% and FT%…
What do you mean shooting less efficiently? He’s shooting fewer FT’s, so his Ts% might not be as high, but everything else is more efficient, that statement you made is confusing.

I don't think anyone doubts he's great it's just a small market and he's not a quirky marketable tall white dude with a massive overseas fanbase, more of a normal overly image conscious young dude who says the regular season is boring when he's been in the playoffs once.

Trae and Luka (well, and JJJ, but forget that one) were my absolute favorite prospects at a time. I remember talking sense into guys who compared this guy to Jimmer, proud of this one. Not surprised by this man at all.

Er, what? Atlanta is a top 10 market in the NBA. How the hell is that small market?

if anything we need a thread about how Luka hasn't really improved in 3 years and is falling well short of the trajectory most people on this board assigned him

Re: ice trae- stop sleeping
Trae has shown great improvement. Also his shot selection is slightly better.
I didn't believe in his rookie year bc i thought it would be hard for him to get to elite shooting efficiency (not counting fts and TS) from where he started. But he's proven me wrong if he can end the season in or close to 50-40-90 club. More about on the 40%+ 3s
