Gafford sucks at setting picks. He slips them before he sets them and ends up drawing his defender into the lane to defend both him and the guard easily. If he would set a sticky pick (or screen off ball) then he could create space for both of them. It would spring his shooter loose and force his defender to show outside, which would turn his pick into a footrace against the other Big. He wins that match up. Instead the Big knows not to bother trapping the pick since we don't shoot well from outside anyway and since the little guy won't have to fight through it. No open shot, and a clogged lane.
