His PPG and RPG will be higher than projected though if he keeps starting.

The rebounding has definitely surprised me! Hoping to see a lot more playmaking. Doesn't quite feel like the PG most want just yet, but you're right that they're not really giving it to him to create for others.

19 games in and he's averaging 15.2/8.3/3.3/1.1/0.6.

Vast majority of people in this thread including myself and everyone else who thought he'd be good eventually did not see this coming.

Maybe 5 games in was too early to look at it, but a quarter of the season is done and he's kept up the scoring. He really does have the potential to be a top 10 player in this league.

Did anyone predict that he will take 9 3s in one game and make 4 of them? This guy is going to be a stud offensively in a few years (much quicker than anyone expected).

His offense is way ahead, but his defense needs a lot of work. He's a very smart player so that should improve.

I don't think anybody thought he'd be playing 35 minutes a night, either. Most were thinking 25 MPG tops based on how raw he looked earlier on. What's funny is that most of the weaknesses in skillset are still there (apart from the shooting), but his ball IQ allows him to adapt around them.

I wouldn't say he needs A LOT of work. Siakam needs more work IMO.

He's strong and a tad bit bulky. In the off-season, he can work on his lateral quickness on defense but he's adequate as a rookie.

And unlike his contemporaries (along with Mobley), he's shooting well from the field for a rook. His shooting splits of 49/32/73 are probably the biggest surprise of all.

I've never been more happy about being so wrong about a player.

Tbh, if he puts the work in with his height and wingspan and fluidity I see no reason why he can't be at least a league average shooter.

Who knows, he may even become a good-elite one (won't happen for a long while, like 3-6 seasons in, but possible), I mean look at Jaylen Brown, Norman Powell, OG etc.

8 times out of 10 he's going to have a good look because of his height and has the capability to get his shot off.

We were all dead wrong about this guy.

I never ever thought he'd go 4/9 from 3 this season.

You just can't teach the willingness to listen to your coaches and the desire to improve.

The way he can get his shot off from everywhere reminds me of Kawhi. He's almost unblockable in his shooting motion.

It's a long shot as I don't know just how good a shooter/ball handler he's gonna be but his max ceiling is basically Kawhi who excels at running point guard. Like a Giannis/kawhi hybrid sort of. Someone who you can run the offense through like lebron but is also an assassin of a shooter like Kawhi.

He imo has the highest offensive ceiling in the draft (scoring/playmaking), Mobley has the actual highest ceiling because of his defense but I think Barnes offensive ceiling is higher. I'm obviously biased.

This is a fun thread to look back at.

The 2 worst predictions were that Suggs would double his stats and that he would average like 5 points on 39% shooting.

The best predictions came from hype, he was spot on.

But I maintain my opinion that injuries during the season have stopped him from posting bigger stat lines. When he was healthy he averaged 18/9/2/1/1 the first week or 2. Then he averaged 17/8/4/1/2 when the hand was healed. Now he is averaging 19/8/3/2/1 post all star break as he is past his knee issues.

I'm more than ready to dismiss him as a bust in the first year. Seems like an extremely flawed player but excited to see what you can get
