Official 2022 Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Hansari » Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:46 am

I think we’re at the stage where we can start some initial discussions around potential late-lotto/mid-first picks. We’ll eventually need a dedicated draft thread since we have our picks this year.

To get us started I’ll name a few players that could fill the glaring hole at C while preserving our switch-all tactics.

Jabari Smith - 6’ 10” | 6’ 11” wingspan (reach is arguably too short to be an effective rim protector, can definitely switch onto wings, not sure about rebounding)

Yannick Nzosa - 6’ 11” | 7’ 4.5” wingspan (very raw and lanky, mobile enough to switch and potential to develop a shot, Congolese — Serge signing via. FA could be effective in a mentor role until ready)

Anyone else have eyes on players in the coming class? Initial rumblings are that it’s a good class for PF/Cs, perhaps that’s part of our reasoning behind going small this year?

We have the TwO thread already and the draft, trade thread. Prospects are already being discussed in full in TwO in particular. But I can understand not wanting to navigate through all the pages.

The only guy I know of from this draft so far is Holmgren.

Hop on the Keegan Murray wagon now. He's Tobias Harris with good defense! His stock should rise through the teens throughout the year and end up late top 10 for the Raptors to select. I think the rise might be like Chris Duarte who ended up the 13th pick but wasn't in the top 10 due to him being an old senior. Murray is a sophomore.

89% FT shooting :droop:

It's true that his schedule has been sooooo soft but he's put up no less than 23 points in each of the first 6 games.

Some people might just want to talk prospects though, and not get involved in the whole tanking subplot of that thread.

The tWo thread has been infested by a couple posters who come there to disrupt the conversation with the anti-tank talk and constantly moving goal posts whenever they get a response

So a separate thread purely for prospects seems reasonable for those who don’t wanna read that crap

Isn't there a draft thread literally stickied at the top?

That thread is mostly used for trade ideas and free agents

Prospects are rarely ever talked about in that thread and if they were, they’d be buried within the trade talk

Haven't been following this year's draft as much..... are the bigs (Paolo, Chet, Jabari) known to be defensive menaces?

What made Mobley special was that he anchored a team full of fringe division 1 players into a top defensive team in college. If any of those 3 bigs care more about their own side of the court, that's my pick.

We can't even decide how to properly do a thread around tanking and prospects. That is hilarious!

I imagine Chet would be destroyed on D honestly.

I would like an order of Benedict Mathurin. With a combo of Canadian and 6'8" SG.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

Read on Twitter

FT 85%, FG 75%. at decent volume. At those rates, doesn't matter if some small guards occasionally beat him. NBA analytics? LOL.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Great idea starting a draft thread. We didn't have one before.

I think one of the most intriguing two-way talent will be Kendall Brown. This kid is special in the way somewhat like Scottie was. Good motor, court-vision, some tweaks on offense, but a monster on D. Fits like a glove with OG and Scottie.

I like Kendall Brown as well anywhere from 6-12.
