GSW sending Klay and Wisemen to G league, Klay's return is imminent

Post#1 » by UcanUwill » Mon Nov 29, 2021 2:56 pm

With Klay Thompson's return imminent, the Golden State Warriors designated him to their G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz on Sunday.

Thompson was due to practice with the team for the first time on Sunday afternoon. It’s unlikely he’ll actually play with Santa Cruz when they play back-to-back games against the South Bay Lakers next week.

Great, I hope Klay (and Wiseman) are able to play soon again in the NBA. I'm sure Wiseman will be back to 100% soon. Let's hope Klay can return to even 90% of his prior self. Warriors will be favorites if Klay can play well. I just don't think the achilles plus the knee on the opposite site. It's gonna to be a difficult transition back to full speed NBA games. Even KD has lost a step after the injury. But KD is 6 foot 11 so can still rise and elevate his shot better so can compensate. Not sure Klay will. He will always be a great shooter.

Watching Kay's first game back is must see TV for me. This is 2015 Warriors all over again. Still hate that Durant ruined Warriors basketball by just making things overly stacked lol.

Klay is probably 3 weeks away from returning and the Warriors are slow rolling Wiseman's return. My guess is Klay comes back 12/20 at home against the Kings and Wiseman a couple of weeks after that. Can't wait for the ovation for KLay :D

From the quote, it seems like Klay should be back within a week or so. Especially if they have no plans to let him play games with the G League squad.

I don't see it that way and he needs to get his conditioning back before he steps on a NBA floor.

Daaaang, can’t wait to see Klay back! Robbed from seeing one of the best shooters of all time for two years in his prime, crazy. Hope he stays healthy.

Even a 75% Klay makes the Warriors even better and from the practice footage we've seen it looks like his shot is still money.

Wiseman is a wild card, he could be a help or a detriment in the short term. Hoping for a Jordan Poole-like jump in comfort level but that may be too much to hope for considering he hasn't really had any time to play or even practice. What I think will help him is if they treat him as they are Kuminga. Put him in some non garbage time situations but for short stints to build up him confidence. Let him play with a few starters (Steph, Draymond) so he's benefitting from their spacing and BBIQ, then simplify his moves. Limit jump shots, limit dribbling, and limit block attempts (this often put him in poor position and led to fouls). Just concentrate on dunking, boxing out for rebounds, and keep track of everyone on defense, that's enough for now. Maybe later on he can build on that and expand his game but I think he was trying to do everything last year and got lost.

I can't wait for Klay to be back and the splash bros back in action. As a NBA fan this is exciting!

Warriors have had many blow outs so the rookies and Wiseman should be getting floor time.

Klay and Wiseman aren't needed yet but the rotations are being sorted out now.

I think the rotation ends up being simple. Klay takes Poole spot in the starting lineup, Poole takes all of Lee and Chiozas minutes and he becomes the de-facto backup point guard, with GP2 the backup 2 guard. Wiseman will end up eating into Looney and Bjelica's minutes, and if he plays well, eventually becomes the starting center.

The Rookies wont get to play much this year. At some point even though the team is very deep, Kerr has to set his playoff rotation of his 9-10 best guys.

Bjelica, Lee and Chiozza are the weak leaks on the bench. They are solid, but just not better then anyone else, so they will get their minutes cut or will fall out of the rotation completely.

poor poole hes going to get screwed. he could have commanded a max.
masai would have traded klay for simmons and lock in poole to a cheap multi deal last yr.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Allows them to add some youth and depth to the veteran bench in Poole + Wiseman. That is going to be an extremely dangerous unit. And man, I can’t wait to see Klay back out there. It’s been 3 long years.

Nobody in their right mind would do that as I'm sure the poster knows. But it's fun to post nonsense, I guess.

Poole will be putting up bigger numbers when Klay gets back. It'll mean Poole gets to shoot as much as he wants as the leader for the 2nd unit, not needing to share the ball with Steph and Klay. And when he does share the floor with Steph and Klay, Poole will get a ton of open shots because defenses will be too focused on covering the Splash Bros.

GSW is not giving up Poole for anything. Hes the future at the guard spot.

Imagine having the best team in the league, then adding a rested and healthy Klay Thompson to it. Light years indeed.

I can't hate this version of the Ws; this is the version that built itself right and was just money on drafting and development before y'all-know-who did y'all-know-what.

They’ve already promised his return will be at a home game so they can go all out. That means Dec. 8 against Portland (unlikely) or Dec. 20 against Sac. (Most likely).

Considering the history of the 37-point quarter against Sac. There’s a certain symmetry to his return being against them

I remember people laughing at me saying the warriors are contenders with a healthy allay back. Not so funny now

I didn't realize there were two Wiseman (ergo, Wisemen) on the Warriors. I guess they'll probably trade one of them afterall.
