So Robbie Ray just started following Gausman on Twitter. Showing love for his future teammate?

Apparently Scherzer just signed for 3 years, $130M with the Mets. I don't care how good Scherzer is, $43.33M AAV for 3 years to a 37-year-old is lunacy. Will Scherzer provide twice as much value per year as Gausman? Because he's being paid almost twice as much! Truly remarkable - looks like the Mets got desperate after missing out on some other arms.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Is there any way we can afford him now that we signed Gausman? A lineup of Ray/Gausman/Berrios/Manoah/Ryu would be sick.

Pretty funny that while they got Lindor (we were suitors). We got Springer (they were suitors) and Gausman (they were suitors). The Scherzer deal is madness and one of desperation.

He finished top three in MVP voting in two of the last three years.

I'm just imagining what the reaction would have been three years ago, had somebody said that Ryu would be the #5 pitcher in the Jays' rotation in 2022.

The dollars don't matter... the term kinda does.

Its only one more year than what was reasonably expected. The Springer deal seemed like it was very attainable for Semien.

Doesn't hit too much to the opposite field. Kind of an odd fit with that field in Texas.

" The Blue Jays announced Monday that they’ve signed the following seven players to minor league deals: right-handers David Phelps, Jose De Leon and Casey Lawrence; outfielders Mallex Smith and Nathan Lukes; left-hander Matt Gage; and catcher Kellin Deglan. Phelps will earn a $1.75MM salary if he makes the club, tweets Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. "

Dave Phelps refuses to be flushed. lil focker just keeps floating to the top.

So, comparable money to Gausman, but with an opt-out (that almost definitely won't be exercised).

Pool money uber alles. I don't expect us to be in for any more comp-eligible players, so we should have a pick in the low 20s, one around 55, and two around 70-75. So we should end up with a bonus pool comparable to a team picking closer to 12th-15th in the draft, I believe.
