That’s rough. Hope he recovers and comes back strong next season.

I still like Denver's chances with fully healthy Murray, Jokic, AG and Barton. It's gonna be tough, but that team is very good when everyone bar MPJ is available.
Det. Frank Pembleton: You know, sometimes you're funny. Then there's now.

Re: [Shams] MPJ out for the season
Man, I'm sure this is wishful thinking but I really hope this surgery is successful and he can get back to normal next year. Denver has their core locked up for years and Jokic is only 26 so this isn't necessarily a death blow, but it's certainly not good news

Re: [Shams] MPJ out for the season
That 5 year max was a stupid decision at the time and now looks even more idiotic. About to waste another year of MVP Jokic in the process. Tough breaks

The big picture approach when someone is having his third spinal surgery at the age of 23 is that you royally effed up. That's the big picture. And if we are talking about Joker's big picture, that's asking for a trade in a month or two.

Re: [Shams] MPJ out for the season
I’m sad as hell for MPJ
Yall heartless
Also Denver cursed and Jokic is now the best player in the league with the worse supporting roster
They should trade Jokic to the wizards for 2 future second round picks and our 1st this year

Nuggets really gave him that huge contract too early? I hope it has some insurance clauses in it for this particular injury.
Truth is on the side of the oppressed.

No, they should trade him for KP, and all of our available picks, that's what they should be doing.

You cannot have a competitive team while 1/3 of your salary cap is not providing anything.
It’s sad that this is the way NBA fans think now. When the going gets tough, run! Labron has really ruined the NBA.

Agreed. MPJ's matador defense will not be missed.

If KP opts out of his final year the Mavs could make a run at Jokic. That would be fun
No way KP opts out. And as much as I would love Jokic in Dallas I’d like it more if he stayed and Denver and elevated his team to a title (like Dirk). I hate the pu ssy mentality of some NBA players and some NBA fans to just prefer to take the easy way out. Scared of competition. Why not just give every team a trophy at the end of the season.

Man this is a shame. I was really cheering for MPJ to continue his play from last season. He can definitely ball, but those nagging back issues.

WCF at the very best, but also unlikely with the Suns and the reemergence of the Warriors.
Aaron Gordon is pretty awful with no real offensive toolkit and the Nuggets bench is one of the worst in the league. I like Bones Hyland though, he'll be a good one.

Well ofc. That was years ago when the salary cap wasn't that big as is right now.

Porter had been seeking a non-surgical option for his injury.
Heard he is going back to grass diet. Also performing the well known NBA ritual: spiritual counting of the legally stolen money. By the time all of it is counted it will be time for the next contract. Sacramento Kings already planning the cap space.

Re: [Shams] MPJ out for the season
It was the right call. He was struggling mightily to start the season which was likely due to the injury.
As for those saying it was a bad contract. Sure, in hindsight it might turn out to be. But put yourselves in the Nuggets shoes: he didn't have back issues the last two seasons, he only really missed some time due to COVID, and he was very good last season. You can't just let someone go who had the kind of season that MPJ had last season. He was a borderline all-star and you're not going to find many players who are 6'10 that shoot 45% from 3. The upside was too great not to extend.
