This is the heavy weight matchup we've all been waiting for.

The battle of Houston Rockets' lapdogs

Combined, the Bulls and Hornets make up 66% of Rockets wins ... and likely represent the only 2 game winning streak they'll have all year. From one perspective, this could be the worst game of the year.

They're #6 in terms of offensive ratings but also in the bottom 6 defensively resulting in a mostly neutral NETRTG (15th). They have 5 guys averaging in double figures in points, so they have a lot of different offensive options that can hurt you.

They have 7 guys on their roster who are shooting 3s better than 37%. Rozier and Bridges are having a rough start shooting the ball but they do put up a lot of them and can get really, really hot if left open. Bridges is having a career year and can hurt you in a lot of ways.

We wanna defend the 3pt line and not be careless with the ball. Their guards are kinda like ours, with multiple of them averaging at least 1 steal per game. If we turn the ball over like we did vs Miami AND give up open 3s, it's gonna be a long night.

Haven't watched Charlotte but a few minutes this year outside of highlights. Do they play any Zone?
Everyone plays zone against the bulls.

Bingo . Thanks for reminding me about this .
People say you can shoot out of a zone . Teams are basically making you earn it .

Or from I learned , is that elite ball handling can beat the zone . Think of Chris Paul type .
Basically I want to say dribble penetration on a zone that is stretched out by viable offensive threats .

If Zach don't play then he must be really sick. Wouldn't be shocked if he decides to give it a go

A Zach "flu game" could either be amazing or a monumental failure.

I'm excited to watch this game, probably as excited as any game this season, but for different reasons.

I haven't watched much live game Hornets action. But for last 3-4 years (post-Kemba basically) I've always followed them box score because their intriguing as an alternate franchise building model. It's never really worked, but I said it at draft that it was a match made in heaven for both franchise and LaMelo. Kid really has chance to be a league star, and the draft was only real way small market like Hornets was gonna land one (they've missed on many draft picks). I like all the draft picks they have repped on the team right now though, they've turned it around last 3 years.

I think they and the Bulls are sort of in a tier of their own together: 5-6 seed, with ONE of them sitting and waiting for a team to slip in so they can possibly jump as high as top 3 seed.

LaMelo - star in making ... and really really fun to watch for any basketball enthusiast (super happy for the kid. He took a lot of flack for his personality pre-draft, but he's come into league and been a consummate professional and that's super impressive to handle the criticism and show it's not warranted).
Bridges - I could tell last year he was real deal and going to take another jump. I wish I would have gone with my gut and laid down some money on MIP. He and LaMelo are a fantastic duo; the kind that can both lead add wins but just as importantly change franchise perception and keep people in seats.
Hayward - Always liked him, but wasn't sold on him reaching the expectations many had for him. Now in Charlotte, expectations and influence on team seem to be perfectly matched. He's no scrub, he can score, he can do a little bit of everything, and he's a great vet to help lead such a young team
PJ Washington - I've been watching him since rookie season. LOVE his approach to the game and versatility for today's NBA as a forward. A very good 5th starter for sure.
Rozier - I thought it was a bad signing, but first two season he was great for them; knew his role and filled it. Down a bit this year, but again he's a vet for young team and he seems very proud to play his role.
Oubre - one of more underrated signings, and again I thought it wasn't a good one initially. Another vet, playing very well in their rotation.
Plumlee - ANOTHER underrated signing. The execs over there have had multiple good offseasons in a row (both draft and FA).

Kai Jones - My wife is from the Bahamas so I'm rooting hard for this kid, especially now that he's on the Hornets. Not much playing time, but he was fun in summer league and I think he'll grow into a big role with the team.

(what's really impressive about their team building now, if they had what looked like a great draft with Jones and Bouknight ... but because of the depth they've built both of them aren't in pressure situations. As very young players they get more time to develop their bodies and game; hopefully setting them up for better success late in season or next year.

We’ve had a losing week so It would be nice to right the ship . Gonna put together a fairly reasonable game plan to the game. Lately my GTs seem to have a clarifying effect on the team . The end effect being seeing the team with no makeup on . In my opinion this is practically the 1. The one I want to bring home to my parents hopefully papa Donovan don’t kick me out the door.

The hornets: under the radar they lost to the rockets their last game . Takes some of the salt off our rockets loss.

Vuc > Pj Brown
Green < Bridges
Derozan > Hayward

1. Lonzo < Lamelo
2. LaVine > Rozier

Here the bulls win 3 out of 5 positions . If hornets flip flop their guards shouldnt hurt us . Lonzo could have an outside shot at outmatching Rozier straight up but I can’t give him that on paper given rozier scored 31 his last game .

——————-
1st half minute rotation :

Vuc-18 Bradley-6
Green-12 DJJ -12
Derozan-18 Brown -6

1. Lonzo -18 Cobe-6
2. Zach -18 Caruso -6

Number 1 option is Zach.
We have a big 3 with an elite pointguard . This is a team we should beat . Browns minutes can be supplemented by Green or DJj. But I’m comfortable with Brown in limited minutes the kid can play.
At half time I will post my 2nd half rotation that I feel should be pretty similar to the 1st half .

Guys I’m playing fantasy basketball , I just watched 3 games yesterday . Am not coming in here like an oblivious rookie .

I would hope so seeing as Brown is 52 years old and has been retired a few years now...

Haha well that’s kinda like your opinion bruh.
Lol jk yes I meant Washington .

I'll also add: They were my second favorite team as a kid (#1, I crushed anybody and every body with the Alonzo/Larry Johnson duo on NBA JamM; #2 Muggsy Bogues was one of my first trading cards and his inclusion in Space Jam cemented him as one of my favorites!). I lived in Durham for a bit as an adult and really love North Carolina in general. The Hornets are one of the coolest team names, and their return has brought back some baller jerseys and baller home court floors.

Also helps that MJ is the owner, so still gives me chance to root for the GOAT.

All jokes gags and goofs aside if there was ever a game this early on for this team to display chips on shoulders this is it right.

Didn't every analyst have the Hornets making the playoffs and the Bulls maybe the play in...

Chips ahoy fellas!

Zach was always going to try to at least play, it's in his nature. Let's just hope whatever he has isn't contagious.

LaMelo is really trying to go at Lonzo. Lonzo is just playing team ball.
