Forget the apology, Rick Carlisle should give up his job to one of his black assistant coaches now.

Re: Carlisle/NBCA apologized to Chris Finch for statement made after hiring
IIRC the big hullabaloo was that a black assistant coach of Ryan Saunders (who was also an AC in Portland and spoken highly of by Dame) was passed over for the job. Which obviously makes sense, because if you have an incredibly incompetent coaching staff and a terrible internal culture of losing, why would you promote a guy from within that staff?

What a way to begin the biggest job of your life lol. And iirc Carlisle then proceeded to take the Indy job with the quickness which called to question exactly what kind of diversity search could've possibly went on there
Agreed . Terrible by Rick and the union unacceptable woke behavior for no reason at all.

It's not the first time Rick Carlisle was ignorant last year expressing himself.

Best part for me was where they issued a public statement but a private apology.

Lol @ apologizing publically after a long win streak, but doing it behind closed doors in the summer when things were uncertain about his coaching pedigree, after nabbing a job of your own in 2.3 seconds of unemployment.
Its indeed, very Rick Carlisle esque, from what I've seen.

Carlisle should have apologised to the Hawks as well. Carlisle is a SJW moron who criticised the Hawks for firing Pierce. His reasoning for criticism had nothing to do with the poor coaching performance Pierce had, it was aimed at the Hawks because Pierce was a democrat. Anybody can read his statement, it could not have been more political. Same/similar thing here where his problem was that the Wolves hired a white coach over a black coach.

An apology is nice and all, but maybe Carlisle should actually be supportive of rookie coaches in the future instead of sitting there crapping on them because another candidate wasn't hired for the sake of diversity. Maybe Chris Finch actually got hired for his competence as a basketball mind? Shocker.
On totem pole of wokeness a white woman is higher than a black man. Not surprising.

This is a strange story.
Coach Carlisle is implying that if you are a coach as talented as Finch, then that gets you around standard hiring practice?
Very strange.
This behavior is the opposite of woke.

Carlisle is the stereotypical limousine liberal where it's rules for thee but not for me. He should step down and offer his job to a minority candidate instead of pushing his fake wokeness on everyone else.

becky hammon has checked all the boxes to get hired: put in the hard yards as assistant coach? check. coach summer league? check. coach all star weekend? check. yet people who havent checked all 3 of those boxes are getting gigs before her, so yes that does call into question what is going on.

Exactly.
Here in my country these people are called "caviar leftists" or "iphone socialists", lol.

Turns out becoming a head coach doesn't work like that. You actually have to be the best candidate for the job according to the teams hiring, not just check arbitrary boxes created by random media members and fans.

People should hire whoever they think is best for the job.

you actually make my point, its the teams using some arbitrary reasons to hire/not hire coaches. People hire others who are like them. Its why minorities struggle to get these gigs in sports here. Look at the NFL, Eric Bienmy (whose black) cant get a HC job because "he doesn't call the plays", yet others from Andy Reid coaching tree got head coaching gigs even though they themselves never called plays either under Reid (of course they are white, and they are doing terrible btw as HC). In the case of the blazers, its not a surprise a team whose GM is under investigation for workplace conduct would hire someone with a sketchy past too. People hire others who look/act like them.

You seem to really have your finger on the pulse of why coaches are hired or not. So let me ask, what is it about Eric Bienemy's scheme that you think would've worked well with the Falcons personnel? What can you tell me about his work off the field in terms of his relationship with other coaches and players that would make you think he would be someone that could assemble a great coaching staff and lead a team? Do you agree with his five year plan for bringing the franchise from their current state to the Super Bowl?
