Y’all really need to adjust your expectations. We are going to tank and that’s actually a good thing.

There re at least 4 or 5 guys who feel more entitled to do as they want with the ball than we need on this team. Just because we need scoring does not mean you have to take on the other team on your own. Kyle used to be able to single handedly take over a game, but no one we currently have should try and emulate that. FVV's job at this point should be to get assists and sneak in some easy buckets and three pointers. Someone needs to pull him over and tell him that he's not making the all-star team. I know he stills believes he can, but he needs to hear it.
When the pressure is on, pass the ball. Just keep looking for that next pass. Eventually you'll get buckets from where you don't expect them. I seriously wonder about Nurse. He's not getting anything out of what he has. His "genius" was probably a reflection of Lowry's genius. You kinda wonder if the players respect his no organized offense at this point.
Thanks for articulating my thoughts all along. Lowry is the reason we are so good. Nurse and FVV IMO are looking lost without Lowry's help out there.

Re: PG: Leagues most selfish team loses again
This is a developmental year and they were missing 3 starters. If you re-adjust your expectations, you're able to see the big picture a little more clearly - Barnes is playing like he has superstar potential and that's a lot more important than any wins they get this season.

I am starting to think its a tank as well, As the poster pointed earlier all these soft injuriess keeping guys out, I think they liked how last years tank worked out and why shoot for a play in when you can get another gem along side scottie

Just move him to the two and play Barnes at the 1.
That will derail the tank

Re: PG: Leagues most selfish team loses again
No lol. But to continuously see the blame put on FVV is **** nauseating when he has clearly been our best player all season long. It doesn't matter if he has a bad, decent or great game. Every game/post-game thread is riddled with people making up BS about the play of FVV and Siakam.LBJKB24MJ23 wrote:Chandan wrote:pingpongrac wrote:It was ugly, but we missed a heck of a lot of wide open shots. FVV and Siakam were combined 2/11 on threes, Flynn was 1/7 and Svi was 1/4. The only players to hit more than 1 three tonight were Scottie and Yuta. Missing OG, Trent and Birch is pretty significant too. That's 40+ points and ~90 minutes that were mostly given to Bonga, Flynn and Yuta. Yuta had a good game, but he shouldn't be playing 30 minutes lol.
Also, Memphis is the worst defensive team in the league, but they are significantly better with Morant off the floor on that end (and overall). With Morant on the floor, their DRTG is 116.8 and 114.8 overall (30th). In the minutes without Morant, their DRTG is 108.2 (which would be 19th, but a difference of 0.4 between 15th). They'd be a solid defensive team without Morant.

what does that say about them as nba players?
seems like every other game I hear "we just missed some open shots"
yes you have to blame on everyone else, not FVV. obviously.
thats how a FVV-stan would argue about it, right?

Tonight FVV wasn't great at all, but he was solid in the first half when we literally couldn't get anything going (13 points on 5/10 shooting while the rest of the team scored a whopping 26 points on 10/33 shooting). In the entire 2nd half, FVV took 3 shots and had 1 turnover. He kept the game somewhat close in the 1st half then did exactly what people on this forum want in the 2nd half -- he deferred to Scottie a lot. Scottie had the ball in his hands in the 2nd half just as FVV (if not more) and they both finished with 3 AST and 4 TOV, but one is the second coming of MJ and the other is apparently the worst PG in the league because of a few poor playmaking games where his teammates were pretty terrible at scoring the ball.

I agree with Alvinnon this. Not a fan of doing that. Just a matter of time he makes it on Shaqtin by either missing the layup or getting blocked. No need to be that cocky lol.
he almost lost the ball when he looked back at Adams I think.
Yup... almost dribbled it off his foot lol.

I know this is a very small sample size which is not representative, but damn who would have thought Barnes have become a more reliable 3-pt shooter than Flynn is just in the last 2 games?

Re: PG: Leagues most selfish team loses again
Our defense is trending in the right direction, but it was still pretty bad in the first half. They just missed a lot of good looks. On offense we really miss Trent and OG's scoring these past few games.
To take the next step we need an upgrade at the 1 and 5. Or, we need to figure out who our best option at the 1 is. It might be Fred for now and he might continue to improve. Barnes isn't ready, Banton's not ready and Flynn can't shoot reliably enough.
That being said, I'm glad Flynn is getting more of an opportunity. Call me crazy, but I think he's a guy who's lost his way a bit and needs more of a green light, or just to know he can play through his mistakes. He needs to calibrate his shots and sometime he misfires which leads to an ugly miss, but if he can find his range within the game like Fred does at times he'll make them at a respectable clip.
I think we win these last two with Trent or OG playing. We've really been laboring on offense.

Me and Walt Frazier were the only ones calling this another lotto finish during the summer. Fans really had high expectations despite last years mediocre roster not being addressed.

It's just different expectations. FVV is trying to fill in Lowry's shoes, and he's obviously coming up short. People are just frustrated that he isn't the point guard we wanted him to be. It's not FVV's fault. He's just miscast at the moment. Doesn't change the fact that the half court offense is truly horrendous to watch under his command.

Truthrising wrote:I've said this long time ago. FVV and Pascal are the problem of the team. You're not going anywhere you're selfish, the only brightspot of the team this season is Scottie Barnes and OG.
I'm hoping we ship them both for a package during the season.
That’s ironic as OG is the most selfish player out of that group.
Let’s get away from the rhetoric this team isn’t going nowhere as the roster is constructed. Blaming the best players on a bad team is what nba media does not y’all who actually watch the games.

Give it up bro. That’s all you ever post. It’s tired. Of course he can play better but that’s literally the only thing you post about as if this team doesn’t have a whole bunch of issues.
