Like, I know it’s elementary, but I think Nurse needs to do this with Fred.

Lol this pretty much sums up why this team is so horrible offensively. Everyone thinks they need to dribble to create opportunities instead of trusting the pass. Move witjlit 5he ball, pass to the open man, and shoot the open shot. Simple basketball. Instead everyone think they need to create the offense. This is on nurse.

RapsFanInOhio wrote:I don’t know how much of it is selfishness versus how much is that the offense isn’t designed to move the ball that well. Guys like Pascal and Fred are getting a bad rap but the shot distribution really isn’t that bad to me. Add that to the injuries and guys just underperforming and you have a sub-.500 team.

Unfortunately it looks like this might end up being another stealth tank season, which, ugh. Long term that might be really good. There’s just simply too much talent on this team to be this bad, and adding another decent prospect to this and you’ve really got something. Before they have any success, Barnes either has to turn into a superstar or Nurse has to change the offense in some manner. This offense is what we ran with Kawhi, and it isn’t working because we don’t have a Kawhi.

It isn't working because Precious Achiuwa + Injured Khem Birch does not equal pre-washed Marc Gasol + Serge Ibaka.

Was live at the game

Tough game. Memphis just out played us.

Barnes and Yuta were best players for us.

Precious was awful. Just send himmto the g league when Birch is back.

Need OG back.

Raps youngest team in the league officially. We likely r tanking this year. Just not enough talent

Whenever I check Vanvleet's minutes which has been around 35+ a game. I guess they're rebuilding thing wrong!

No flow, and just unattractive to watch our offense. It's ugly even when we're winning, really bad now with injuries and losing.

Nobody looks good when teams don’t pass. Did all these guys who could shoot the ball before just randomly regress or maybe it’s that shooters make shots when they’re in rhythm and rhythm comes with ball movement?

We missed Birch. I've been calling for another center to bump Precious down to 3rd. But we also need a better backup pg than Flynn.

To take the next step we need an upgrade at the 1 and 5. Or, we need to figure out who our best option at the 1 is. It might be Fred for now and he might continue to improve. Barnes isn't ready, Banton's not ready and Flynn can't shoot reliably enough.

That being said, I'm glad Flynn is getting more of an opportunity. Call me crazy, but I think he's a guy who's lost his way a bit and needs more of a green light, or just to know he can play through his mistakes. He needs to calibrate his shots and sometime he misfires which leads to an ugly miss, but if he can find his range within the game like Fred does at times he'll make them at a respectable clip.

I think we win these last two with Trent or OG playing. We've really been laboring on offense.

You're not crazy! Flynn definitely needs the assurance that he can play through mistakes. This is what couple of games now where he played a decent minutes? He played well defensively, offense can be better but dude needs some reps.
I'm confident he can run the team better than Vanvleet but not with him on the same floor!

i dont get the patience with flynn. Even if he works out we would have a pg that is a good shooter but forever a liability on defense due to his size (not just his height but weak frame) These players are dimes a dozen in the G-league.

To me, the problem is pretty clear. FVV and Pascal, proven complimentary players, are miscast as primary guys, and the pieces around them just don't offer enough support to make up for this gap, either due to youth or just generally underperforming (e.g. Boucher). It's a weird roster, with two different timelines that just don't work together, on court or philosophically imo.

3very year they're playing with **** gleague lineups according to people... good players make others better. Our roster on paper isn't this bad. This g league **** is a cop-out . The team has chemistry issues, a **** offensive system and just lacks overall iq.

Look across the fuxking league. Benches are fiilled with a bunchof no names. Look ar the warriors bench.

If you think Pascal and fvv aren't to be blamed then you're admitting that they're only complimentary pieces. And if they can't lead thiscurewnt roster to more wins, then they shouldn't be given as much of a role or as much credit as you're giving them. Meaning they need to be around other stars to be successful.

If you're gonna go with that mindset, which I agree with, then you also can't flip out every time someone criticizes them... fvv isn't a 40 mpg player. He isnr the future pg of this team. I can guarantee a prime Lowry makes this a playoff team.

If lowry/demar led the raptors to Eastern conference finals, there's no reason this current team If fvv and siakam were that good couldn't qat least lead us to a winning record... the bench is not that bad.

How well did the rest of the team shoot tonight? 30/78 (38%) which includes a late on-slaught from Scottie and Siakam where they went 7/12.

How well did the rest of the team shoot against the Celtics? 27/77 (35%)

How well did the rest of the team shoot against the Pacers? 27/68 (40%)

Give FVV some players to pass to that can actually hit wide open shots and layups and he'd be averaging more than 3.3 assists over a 3-game sample size. You are ridiculous lol

Or how about FVV play like a leader and veteran and pass to his open teammates and keep encouraging them to shoot? Why is a team like the Warriors so successful now? Do you think guys were worried about people not making shots? You can only get open shots if your floor leaders trust others on the team.

Siakam was a huge ball stopper tonight. Yeah he got his stats but it takes everybody else out of the game. When his shot is going in like it was in the 4th quarter it looks nice, but when it’s not going in like the first half then it stalls the offence and kills momentum and morale.

Which is why some of the moves they made did not make sense to me... they kept win now guys playing for awards and egos while tryknf to go young and support them with a bunchof dudes that have minimal experience. To me it just shows how much they overrated their own talent. I've been saying for years and years that none kf these guys would ever be stars and everyone bought unto this hype train.

Siakamxwas the only one I had faith in and it's obvious he's not cut out for the role... and despite all the hate,he's technically still the most skilled of the in house trio of og fvv and siakam.. and if he not cut out for it, then none of them are. We need 5o move on and stop expecting them to be who they're not.

He just doesn't make his teammates better and neither does pascal... too much iso hero ball... problem is Trent also only looks for his... not certain what nick can do other than insist they move the ball around more...

I always thought it was the shooting guard's job to look for his own. Hence the name, 'Shooting Guard." If Trent shoots the ball during a play call in which he is supposed keep it moving, then that's on Nurse for not disciplining. That's not what I think is happening. I think there are few sets called and they are all ISO freelancing out there, which is also Nurse's fault.
