To take the next step we need an upgrade at the 1 and 5. Or, we need to figure out who our best option at the 1 is. It might be Fred for now and he might continue to improve. Barnes isn't ready, Banton's not ready and Flynn can't shoot reliably enough.
That being said, I'm glad Flynn is getting more of an opportunity. Call me crazy, but I think he's a guy who's lost his way a bit and needs more of a green light, or just to know he can play through his mistakes. He needs to calibrate his shots and sometime he misfires which leads to an ugly miss, but if he can find his range within the game like Fred does at times he'll make them at a respectable clip.
I think we win these last two with Trent or OG playing. We've really been laboring on offense.
You're not crazy! Flynn definitely needs the assurance that he can play through mistakes. This is what couple of games now where he played a decent minutes? He played well defensively, offense can be better but dude needs some reps.
I'm confident he can run the team better than Vanvleet but not with him on the same floor!
i dont get the patience with flynn. Even if he works out we would have a pg that is a good shooter but forever a liability on defense due to his size (not just his height but weak frame) These players are dimes a dozen in the G-league.
I can see that, but I've seen enough from him when his game is clicking to think he can be an asset for our team and help our offense run more smoothly and ultimately win games. I legitimately think if we can getting him rolling, he'll contribute to winning basketball, despite his size. He makes pretty good reads for the most part offensively, and he can stay in front of his man defensively, plus he's come up with loose balls and get his fair share of strips. I think he's a better player than he's been playing and I'm disappointed with the way he's been brought along both last year and this year. He's not a plug and play mercenary type. He's a rhythm/feel player. Getting him going will pay dividends later.
Aside from bad shooting and being too deferential/not great game management, I don't have much of an issue with his play this year.
