Who’s the worst player you’d trade Herro for?

Post#1 » by 3ammy3uck3ts » Wed Dec 1, 2021 12:49 am

Let me start this by saying, no I don’t want to trade him. Hasn’t even really crossed my mind unless a deal came up that blew us away. I’m just curious on how you all view his value and what you all think we could get for him. I’d say his value has hit a new all time high as of right now.

Who is the worst player you would trade Herro for? Throw salary matching and all that out the window, just a straight up deal.

Also if you want to add to it, if you were the GM and we’re trading Herro what deals would you try and make? Bigger than a straight up deal, multiple pieces involved.

Its kinda hard to demand top dollar for someone who is a bench player. Thats where reality and common sense come into play. Any competent GM and heck even an incompetent one will say "Well if you dont value him as a starter why should we value you that way in a trade" Because of salary and luxury tax reasons, he is worth more to us than what we can get back.

To give my answer, worst I would do would be like Paul George. Maybe I’m super overvaluing Herro but I think he’s an elite asset if it came down to it and I see him averaging 25-30 on day given the chance.

Can you imagine PG next to Jimmy? It would be nuts. Everyone likes to debate them but they’d be a great match on the court.

Obviously there are younger players that aren’t better than PG yet I would trade Herro for like Edwards and Lamelo but I was thinking more of veteran star players.

meh, its overkill. if Kawhi / George disappointed so would Butler / George. Todays NBA is different.

Not necessarily, especially with Bam next to them. I personally think the clippers win it last year if Kawhi doesn’t get injured.

They seemed to play better without Kawhi. What exactly would make them better with Bam?

They weren’t better without Kawhi lol they don’t make it out of the first round without him. Bam is a 3rd elite player to pair them with, the defense of that team would be insane

Bam elite?

I don't know. Seems to me they played better without the redundancy of Kawhi/George. Anyways, whatever.

I know he hasn’t met expectations this season so far but he’s averaging and efficient 19-10-3 while being a top 5 defender in the league lol. Trust me I’d love 24-12 from him every night and he can definitely do that but they haven’t drilled that into his head yet apparently. He’s only 24. He’s an all star and top 5 at his position. **** only centers that are better imo are Embiid and Jokic unless I’m forgetting someone.

I like Bam but I don't see him making an elite defensive impact. His blocks are at an all time low, he only avgs 1 steal per game. He rebounds ok but he is hardly Ben Wallace. I think he needs help.

Bams not a top center. Hes not even a center.

He’s our center, he’s classified as a center.

How is he not elite? You’re basing that off BPG and SPG? Come on man, he’s was just all nba defense last season and a finalist for DPOY I believe. He holds his opponents to the lowest shooting % in the league of any player. He locks up opposing teams star players quite a bit when they’re matched up. Defense is so much more than BPG and SPG. They have their place though which is why I want Turner next to Bam, Bam funneling his man into Turners shot blocking would boost this teams defense quite a bit.

Maybe you are right, Heat are currently 6th in team defense. So he's doing something right. Lets see how Miami struggles without him, if they don't we should sell high on Bam.

Kawhi or Lebron would be the worst players I'd trade Herro for.

Herro is going to get a MAX contract just like Ayton did. Is Miami fine paying a huge amount of tax? Because that factors in on what you would/should accept for him. It might make sense to get a similar level player that's locked into a cheaper contract.

OKC did that with Harden, by trading him for KMart/etc. that was a bad idea.

Not saying Herro is Harden in the making, but when you have this many pieces in place (Jimmy/Bam/Herro/Lowry) you only ship one of them out for an upgrade.

But what if Miami doesn't want to pay him the MAX? I'm not sure they want to give him a 4 year $150 million contract. I think it makes a lot more sense to move on from him for someone locked into a cheaper deal than it does to let him go for nothing in FA. He's one of those players that is not really worth the max because he scores a bunch but his defense isn't there. But he'll still get paid the max by someone. If would maybe be a different story if they could send out a pick to have someone take Duncan Robinson's contract but in reality that 4 year $150 max contract could end up costing Miami $300 or $400 million when factoring luxury tax payments.

We'd likely ship out Lowry to make room and/or trade Herro after signing him. It's not that dire. The only way we're trading Herro right now is if we can package him for a better player.
