He felt that the pre draft report was way overblown and it created a narrative against him which caused him to fall in the draft, but the doctor was right all along.

No, the doctor was wrong, not "right all along." In fact, he will never be right. Porter did play in the NBA.

He’s right tho. This is MPJ’s fourth regular season. He missed his entire rookie season, played two shortened regular seasons until his back finally gave out on him ten games into this season.

Unfortunately, the only thing that “will never be right” is MPJ’s back, which the doctor was right about all along.

generally speaking it seems like in other sports you have to earn a contract.

in basketball you only have to be athletic so bad contracts abound. if you're 19 and athletic and have proven NOTHING you get a shoe contract

Well they can get the disabled player exception for next season which would be the full non-tax MLE ($9.6m) - crappy concession prize but at least it is something.

Hate to see this to the guy and an organization which I don't hate.

Time for Denver to play the long game since he's still young and that contract hasn't even started yet... take the time to do nothing but rehab.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
I feel so bad for Jokic... between Porter & Murray being out, he'll be wasting his peak years unless he demands a trade.

Denver should tank the season and get a high pick to soften the blow, and even that's not a given, given that Porter's contract will cripple their cap for a long time now.

No way any company would insure MPJ's preexisting condition, only freak injuries.

Did this now become the Worst Contract in the NBA?

Kind of reminds me of John Walls contract when he signed it with the Wizards.

They went into surgery hoping to find exactly what they found,” Porter’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told The Denver Post. “It went great. He can already feel a difference.

Fantastic. Is it possible for Nuggets to maybe throw more money at him now? Maybe extension for another year? No? Too bad. If there was a chance, I'm sure Nuggets are giving him a life-time max contract. How could you not, after everything went so great and everything looks amazing. I mean, not just great, but he is even better now because of these back issues.

I wonder if this agent guy is willing to accept a bet on MPJ's career earnings. An under bet that is.
