KCP was one of my all-star picks the year of his draft. I always look for players who rebound on D better than others at their same position. Whether or not they rebound in that role at the next level, it seems to indicate a player who can make it at the next level. KCP was a standout in this metric. Posting a 21% defensive rebounding percentage as a sophomore guard. His efficiency has steadily improved, as has his shot selection. Catch and shoot, dribble pull up to a three, hitting the trailing 3 on a breakaway, he's added each of these to his arsenal. This threat will allow our bigs to run to the iron to dunk it, and give Beal the space to attack on a dribble drive. Always a breakaway threat on an outlet pass, he takes off in transition ahead of the D and finishes well in that role. Solid player still, about at the peak of his game.

I agree you on looking for players who rebound well relative to other players at their position. Kawhi Leonard was one. Beal was,too.

Day'Ron Sharpe and the big kid from Utah State, NeemQ ALSO.

Your draft assessment of KCP has a slight possibility of panning out. If CALDWELL Pope gets 36 minutes and enough shots anything is possible.

Watched a few Lakers games the last couple seasons. The one thing that I remember about KCP is his D. I don’t think it’s got as much attention as it deserves. Look at his on ball defense and how he denies passes. I really think we got a good player, a steal, here.

KCP is shooting 51% on 3s in the 4th quarter. C.L.U.T.C.H.

Had to dig deep to find this thread...page 6. KCP may be the most under appreciated Zard.

He's the hero who doesn't play heroball.

It does seem like his skills rise to the top at the end of almost every close win for the Wiz. And yeah, in crunch time, his skills are probably more important for winning games than future HOFer Westbrook's - particularly defense and 3 point shooting.

KCP is a good pro. He understands his role and plays it well. He's the best 3&D wing we've had since Ariza.

I still can't believe we turned John Wall and a couple of 2nds into Dinwiddie, Harrell, KCP and Kuzma.

KCP's "clutchness" in the 4th quarter has been key to our success this season to date. Tommy deserves a lot of credit for his ability to get out of Wall's albatross contract.

I wonder what will happen when Rui gets back. I would like to see KCP steal all the minutes at back-up SG so that only one of the Neto/Holiday pair plays. And of course, KCP should play the SF in the clutch next to Beal and Dinwiddie.

He's also shown some glimpses beyond his 3 and D aspect, by attacking close outs with free throw line jumpers and attacking the rim. I've loved what he's brought to the team.

He also seems to get respect from refs. Commonly you see him on the sideline in deadball moments having conversation with the refs. Other players sulk or shout and show them up, KCP exerts an intense quiet influence.

KCP is no doubt the Zards elder statesman. Like you, I’ve seen several instances where during timeouts he calmly approached refs on behalf of himself or a teammate.

KCP is a leader and glue guy who appears happy to be playing with and taking some of the load off of one of his best friend’s (Beal). We’re fortunate to have him in a Zards uni.
