Imagine Pop in a jersey and basketball shorts with a headband coaching in the bench, that would be a sight to see

But for more practical purposes if they did that I can see coaches wearing the teams warmup suits with maybe their last name on the back of their jackets.

Go to the financial district of any city in the world to see suits.

Mostly old people and occasionally douchey entry level kids. At least that’s how it is on Wall Street.

Wearing a suit now does not signify what it used to. Of course when you suit up, it has to look good. But things have drastically changed

I think in most settings it's now acceptable to wear a jacket without a tie and more casual slacks. Wearing a suit, tie, French cuffs, etc. is more of a NY thing if that even still exists.

I think there should be Lots of freedom to the head coach in hoops, but if Head Coach want to rock a suit, more power to him !!!....

I'm kinda glad suits aren't as compulsory as they used to be, guys need to express themselves more and do what's comfortable for themselves, baby steps. Dress codes at a restaurant is completely different, you're ruining the atmosphere and decor for the restaurant and fellow diners if you show up like a slob, and even then most places are way more relaxed than they used to be because it's 2021 and dull looking suits aren't the only way to look formal now.

Just let the poor slobs be comfortable by being practical. I never understood what wearing a thin piece of cloth around your neck or tucking the useless extra cloth of a shirt into your pants has to do with professionalism.

Suits are meant for the boardroom and fancy events not running up and down the sidelines in a sporting event. I like the way things look now and I think the NBA doesn't go back

I have some nearly 100 year old photos and letters from my grandpa who was permanently in a 3 piece suit and hat, and used to write in calligraphy with a fountain pen. He passed away before I was born but I think if he ever met me his first instinct would be to send me to the barber first, the tailor second, and THEN to some lunatic asylum because he'd be too embarrassed to send me directly to the asylum the way I look now LOL

I actually don't mind the way people were permanently a bit overdressed and groomed back in the day, I think it was cool. Like I said before I just hate polyester fabrics that they use in suits and I hate dry cleaning chemicals, one of the two (or maybe both) doesn't agree with my skin at all.

3 years later and suits are still gone and it looks like the majority of high school/college coaches aren't going back either. Pandemic ended a basketball cultural tradition.

    Suits never made sense imo.

They are coaching they should be comfortable coaching.

I still don't understand how ditching suits and COVID were related.

Don't care all that much now. Free society. They can wear whatever they want. Just glad those stupid masks are gone. Cringey.

Oddly enough NHL coaches did go back to wearing suits.

A suit mandate for coaches is pretty weird when you really think hard about it. But a coach looking scruffy isn't a great look either. I think they should at least be wearing team clothing if not something relatively smart.
