What I still can't get over is how empty that statement is. I don't know how they thought this was sufficient?
I would expect all 28 other teams to object loudly too.

Why would they object when they all do the same thing? They wouldn't dare object because it just opens up a pandoro's box, and would show how this rule is pointless.

This statement was for the fans, more so than the teams in the league.
Why so serious?

Meh, rest of the league was probably happy that the punishment wasn't so bad, because they all do it. Kudos to the Bulls for "looking really hard for those burner phones, but not being able to remember where they put them"!

This is devastating.

I really thought that we could draft someone who could go to the g league and then maybe make the last spot on our bench for a year.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

It doesn't articulate what they got caught on and what can and can't be done. Basically all it appears to be is a trial by the press, you just have to hope nobody complains on you. That in itself is a joke. I would raise the issue on principle, but I know I am stubborn.

If I was Milwaukee I would be a bit miffed at how weak the punishment was in comparison. And like how does NO get out of this if the Heat somehow tampered to get Lowry and NO was in the running at the same time, even upping their offer to be larger.

The more I think about it the more it makes me laugh at how nonsensical it all was.

I'm probably the only Bulls fan glad about this. Because I hate tampering, and I hate 2nd round draft picks lol.

Uh...

Doesn't this warrant an investigation also?

Yep. Someone said the NBA found all 30 teams were guilty of tampering. They can't penalize all 30 teams draft picks, so they picked Miami & Chicago.

It was likened it to a cop on an expressway where everyone is going 70 in a 55 zone. What's he going to do, stop traffic and ticket every single car? No he'll just pull 1 car over. I also think this is why we won't see serious penalties.

With the speeding ticket analogy, if the punishment was heavy (say $10,000), people would do something about it and vote someone in who abolishes the speed limit altogether. The penalty has to be small enough to go under the radar, something everyone is OK getting hit with, because everyone does it.

Next time, don't announce approximately 10 seconds into free agency that they signed someone. Wait at least 2 minutes.

Silver and the NBA can’t be serious. I know it’s just a second round pick but still this is total bs. Bulls should fight this or push for other teams to get punished as well.

Somewhere Joe Smith is cheering he is like man I’m worth like 10 Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Balls. He is the real winner in all of this.

Literally just wait 10 damn minutes. Yeah the rule is BS but if you break a rule blatantly there has to be some recourse.

I still can‘t get over the pure stupidity by some of these „professional“ agents. It is just dumb and the Bulls have to pay for it. A second round pick is nothing though. We can be happy about that result. GarPax probably would have sold that pick for cash considerations. AKME at least got a good player out of it.

With the way Lonzo has played, I gladly forfeit a 2nd round pick. Bulls can alway pick up another 2nd any time they want.

But I am really annoyed that the League can simply pick and chose what 2nd round pick they want as "punishment". It should be that they can only accept the Bulls owned 2nd rd pick not a pick the Bulls acquire via a different transaction.

The 2023 draft might have High Schools Players eligible and be a double draft. Denver's pick may have more value since it is our only possible pick that year.

No need to do this. Just buy a pick between #51 to #58. Teams sell those for less than $1m. Then give that pick to the NBA.

If they are allowed to do this, they should absolutely buy the cheapest pick they can, but I'm not sure they would be allowed to do that. They may have to give up a pick they presently have rights to.

I doubt AKME care all that much about second rounders given how generous they've been with attaching picks to get players they really want.

Next summer if they have a target they really, really want to land, I bet they'll change absolutely nothing of their approach.

BUT I can see them maybe reminding the agent a little more sternly about being smarter when it comes time to break the news. That was the main problem after all.
