How do people feel about Bol Bol? underplayed in Denver, has some real nice potential, can space the floor... basically boucher 2.0

Denver is not parting with Bol Bol whether he asks out or not.

I would sniff around Memphis and whether they would be open to adding Goran to help Ja to preserve him for the playoffs.

Goran for Steven Adams & Brandon Clarke ( no longer in rotations).

This then forces the Mavs hand to make their best final offer.

Precious is already a very good defender and rebounder. Once he sorts out his shot selection (he's been much better since returning), he's going to be Raps starting C of the future.

Right now we roll with Birch and Precious, Boucher is long overdue to get DNPs.

It might be our most obvious hole in the roster, but it's not the biggest. Also, most of the suggestions here are hilariously bad and don't move the needle for us.

Patience. We are a few years out, so let's not place a bandaid on a gushing wound.

This.

If anything I'm good with it because it only helps us LONG TERM because we'll have better draft position and that younger core develops YEARS down the line, then you start flipping players to make a real run to contention again.

This current team isn't a C away from changing from wannabe cusp Playoff team to contender. Get one now, we'd likely only jump from a 7-11th seed type of team, to maybe 6-8th seed. I rather forego that for the long term good. About the only C upgrade I'd have is Ayton due to age and contract but ONLY at the cost of Pascal, hell no to anything involving Barnes. Every other C being discussed really won't move the needle that much and definitely not Towns who screams empty stat guy and will cost us Scottie at the minimum only to lose him in a couple of years when the team would be a middling one that doesn't go very far due in part to Towns ain't that guy.

I don't even think we have a long term plan in resolving our C issue since last year.

I agree. I don't see why Denver is trading Bol Bol away when he is the only backup.

Washington with 3 Cs may have to make a decision. They extended Gafford, Harrell is a RFA, and they have injured Bryant who is a RFA as well.

Daniel Theis. He'd provide veteran presence the young team needs, and lost in Dragic's leaving. And he'd provide solid play similar to birch who is missing a lot of games.

And hey, this unrespected raptors fan site is suggesting it. :D

Steven Adams makes 17M next year, doubt we would take on another year of that salary for someone who is barely playable anymore. Brandon Clarke would be nice though

Tbh I’m not a big fan of Adam’s but I think if he was on a team with expectations he would maybe try a bit more. He looked like he didn’t really care when we played Memphis. I think he could still provide 12-10-3 with 1.5 blocks which would be a major upgrade for us.

We are not looking to compete this year or next so if we can get a stop gap starter for this year and next along with some draft capital for players we ain’t using like dragic and bouche I think it makes sense. 1 extra year of Adam’s I’d rather than Powell.

And maybe we package Trent and Adam’s next year for some kind of upgrade as well.

Will Lou:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article/10-things-raptors-should-look-for-a-floor-spacing-centre-to-help-vanvleet-and-siakam/

Two -- Scoring looks impossible at times for the Raptors, especially against big frontcourts. The Grizzlies had the two beefiest players in the game with Steven Adams and Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Raptors couldn't overcome their size in the paint. Again, the Raptors have no spacing threat in the frontcourt which is an open invitation for opposing teams to camp out in the middle to cut off driving lanes

Six -- The Raptors should look for a floor-spacing centre to help VanVleet and Siakam. They are willing passers, and in both cases, they are most adept at making the kickout to open shooters. Siakam in particular can be very effective when he's free to attack one-on-one, but most of the time he will see the centre rotating over in the paint. Of the players on the roster, the one who comes closest to filling that bill is Scottie Barnes, who is absolutely not a centre, nor is he spacing the floor much, but he is big enough to handle most post players, and the shot is coming around. Barnes is 10-of-21 from three over his last five games since Nick Nurse publicly gave him the green light to fire, and the Raptors have been increasingly open to Barnes playing as the de facto centre, particularly with the second unit.

The failure to get a good center ever since losing Gasol and Ibaka becomes more glaring every game.

I wonder if we should cut Bonga or Champaigne and bring in Reggie Perry on the 2-way. Reggie did alright for the Nets last year with limited minutes. He also seems to play bigger than 6'8. If Birch is out for a long time, I would definitely consider this.

Why we need to cut players?
Why not Perry just play NBA minutes?

What about Thomas Bryant (if he came back healthy after ACL injury). He is a UFA next year, but we only have the MLE.
