It's interesting how much research fans will do to find any argument to diminish Young Trae's accomplishments.

Making Player of the Week may not make TY an All NBA lock. But being top-10 in scoring and top-5 in assists for a top playoff team likely will.

It fits his personality and game. A lot better than the other unrelated nicknames out there.

Not in isolation, but it proves you were the best player that week....do that enough weeks and who knows...

Better question is how often does someone not win a player of week and make first or second team

Kid is a monster.

I find the whole Trae/luka thing pretty entertaining and I don't mind it being a thing, but really ,as a neutral fan, I'm glad both these guys will be around for the next decade. He is by far the greatest ATL player of the century, and has a chance to be right up there in the all time rankings when it's all said and done. That's something awesome for all of us to be able to witness

I'd even prefer TV Trae.

I remember the hot takes on here that Trae would be out of the league because of the new rules or some other laughable comment. He is flat out balling and dominating. He is the MVP so far this season. He's the only player in the top five in scoring AND assists and he's doing it on a Hawks team riddled with injuries and a terrible schedule to start the season.

MVTrae indeed.

LOL, he's not MVP of the league. And as long as Curry keeps playing like he has been over the first 20 games, and The warriors keep winning 85% of their games, he's not first team all NBA either. In an alternate universe, where Curry wasn't playing as well as he is, and the warriors weren't as good as they are, this would be a legit thought. But right now, it just isn't.

If not MVP, can he at least get 1st team all-defense?

Yes, I'm kidding. He's definitely 2nd team all-d tho. :)

Seriously though, I got no beef with what you're saying. I think the 'thing' for me (and many Hawks fans) is I'm wondering where all the people went who prematurely dubbed him a bust this season. It got real quiet in here after a lotta dudes were talkin' ca$h sh*t earlier.

Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows you don't write anyone off after 15 games. People who did that to him, don't know the game. You don't handle it and shoot it as well as he does and "bust". In todays nba, that just isn't possible.

Stylistically, there are some things about his game that I'm not fond of. I still think hes not nearly as effective off the ball as he is on it, for example. But those are minor quibbles. Not everyone can be Steph Jr. I'll never say that out loud over here in Decatur though. Might not make it out alive.

I'm glad he's playing well. We are going to see him play the Bulls two days after christmas, and a player on the team scored us seats behind the bench, so I'm looking forward to My 10 year old son chatting it up with him, since he loves him some Ice Tray.

And to those who are asking if that's a real nickname? They call him that every night here on the local news.
