But city mandate may happen anywhere, esp if there is another outbreak, so a trade is not a long term solution. By the time virus is gone, Kyrie would be in retirement age.

Damn Twitter sometimes really destroys any context with a simplified quote.

Did anyone listen to what Shams said. It's just 3 minutes, you don't even to listen to the whole thing, just the first 90 seconds to know that this isn't news of any kind, this is just Shams speculating on things everyone has already speculated on a month ago,Kyrie had hope Eric Adams would change the mandate, no chance in hell of that happening, everyone knows this. Also Kyrie is an idiot, he isn't getting the vaccine period, everyone knows this too. Shams is just regurgitating fan old fan conclusions and not offering any new development info.

Really wish BR didn't retire Game of Zone. This entire plaque season highlighted by Kyrie, Simmons, and the Lakers circus would have made for some quality entertainment.

"he's not gonna play basketball unless he gets traded"

Yeah I'm not sure I believe at all that he'd play if traded. No player has ever been in the perfectly ideal situation, but Kyrie just might be the exception to that rule when you consider all his demands being met in Brooklyn: the location playing at home, with his best bud on a loaded title-favorite superteam, making the max, and for an organization that totally caters to his inane bullchit. AND HE'S STILL FOUND A WAY TO PHUCK IT UP AND NOT PLAY

Imagine he goes to a team that isn't perfect in all of the ways mentioned above. Which is literally 29 of 29 remaining NBA teams. We really think he's gonna be all fine and dandy and willing to play there?

Kyrie isn’t getting paid for home games, ie the ones he chooses to sit out.

Yes, but he shouldn't be getting paid for any of them. Allowing him to still collect $17 million is just enabling him and giving him little incentive to comply with the vaccine requirement.

What the Nets should have done was suspend him indefinitely without pay for conduct detrimental to the team and then let an arbitrator decide whether or not he was actually entitled to be paid.

Weren't there indications earlier that Simmons wasn't vaccinated either?

Honestly for me the best thing that could possibly happen is Kyrie simply fading from public consciousness.

He’s either going to wait for the mandate to change which it won’t for him so his only way of playing is to get the vaccine, which he refuses to do or get traded

Makes a lot of sense.

I don’t think it makes sense at all. The Simmons issue has been a disaster for the Sixers, they won’t want to trade a disaster for another disaster.

i dont think the nets will play hardball for equal value. it's not like philly

I really like Kyrie and I’ve defended him in the past, but I don’t think there’s a bigger headcase in the NBA right now. His stance makes no sense, is pretty illogical and incredibly selfish. I might have to give more credit to Lebron for winning with this guy because it’s always something with him.

Nets will have to accept 20 cents on the dollar because I can’t see many teams giving up any value for him.

Why would the Sixers do this?

There's no guarantee Kyrie will ever play again. He's injury prone even when he does play.

I would much rather have some great draft picks or a couple good young players in return for Simmons.

If that were viable, the Sixers would have already executed that trade. The fact is, both players have tanked their respective trade values, and the only way EITHER team gets anything RESEMBLING a decent return for either of them is if they are traded for each other and given a fresh start.

LOCKOUT!!!

i think the owners have had enough

the interesting part will be how both sides play this to the fans and media.

i think sentiment will swing to the owners. athletes should be lucky to be who they are during the pandemic with a lot of people in strife

Going to be an absolute nightmare. Headed toward lockout.

Unfortunately, I fear negotiations for the next CBA is trending towards a lockout as well. This matter boils down to Kyrie’s personal choice; well, just how far does that choice stretch? Can players refuse to play, as a matter of personal preference in protest of other laws, social matters, or league-related practices (e.g., the NBA’s dealings with China) by sitting out games? How do franchises and the league remedy such matters without nullifying player protections, such as guaranteed contracts?

this dude is an idiot. Literally throwing away a championship. 35 minutes from where he grew up. Playing with his best friend. Given the green light to do whatever he wants. LeBron's probably past his prime. There's no 2016-2018 GSW to deal with. It's right there. And he's just like "nah."

You know Morey is holding out for Harden. It probably won't happen until the off season though.

Harden for Simmons + Maxey and a couple of picks.

I can’t recall a player more interested in having a 30 for 30 made about him than Kyrie.

Everything is contrived. somehow he’s still insecure about the fact that he is “only” a basketball player.
