Yup. Defensive wings that don't score or shoot threes have very little value. Mikal just isn't good. If you're a non-scoring defensive wing, you better at least shoot threes that way you provide some value on the offensive end (see Danny Green and Robert Covington).

Rockets have been winning a bunch of games the moment they inserted Garrison Matthews into the rotation.

I wish we had him on a two-way instead of Grant Riller.

I love Jj’s podcast as all you know. The first time i listened to this, I thought Mikal has been playing well this season being a 15-18ppg scorer 2 way player. Then I looked at his numbers and im like.. this guy is just a role player what is he talking about..

If you want him, we probably can get Lu Dort right now for half the price.

I've never cared to much about Mikal, I just saw that clip and was reposting it.

Sorry wasnt meant to make it sound like you want mikal.

2 games vs OKC is a ready made winning streak for just about any team

Dude that’s actually perfect practice not like half the league that does the same thing and doesn’t know why they can’t improve.

He’s consciously going the shot slowly to build muscle memory.

Don’t know why posters her bring down Mikal he’s exactly what we need

He can't score off the dribble. He's nothing special.

We had Roco, we have washed Green. He can start on a championship team, but the Suns are nothing without Chris Paul and Devin Booker. We need our CP3. Mikal doesn't elevate this teams ceiling.

CP3? In this day and age is impossible.

Just work a deal getting Irving for Harris somehow. That would literally be the best move for us hands down.

Roco is a dumbarse cmon weve all watched him enough to stay the **** away from the ball unless he’s pulling the trigger literally can’t do anything else.

Green is probably cooked at the end of this year.

I’m tired of the Sixers drafting and getting in zero value stuff. Face it most of the list is bad and not playoff worthy.

Not CP3 literally. Figuratively.

The Suns were dead in the water with Booker/Mikal/Cam/Ayton.

We need elite shot creation in any capacity. I put very little value in "elite" "roleplayers" (oxymoron).

I don't think people realize how infrequently Mikal Bridges shoots. He's shooting even less than Maxey this year. He offers nothing offensively. Can't dribble and doesn't shoot.

Teammate Jae Crowder is a way better version of that three and D archetype. For one, he actually shoots the ball.

Guy is averaging 12.4 PPG on a .625 TS on a team with the best record on the NBA. For Kobble it’s nothing.

12.4 ppg on 34.5 mpg is terrible per minute production. TS is meaningless for a guy that scores all his points on the fastbreak or through energy hustle buckets when the defense is caught napping.

You can't be three and d and not shoot threes. Then you're just a defensive specialists that floats out there offering nothing offensively. He doesn't create off the dribble and he doesn't shoot threes.

The reason Mikal is put on a pedestal is because of the make up of the Suns roster.

So funny that CP3 likes to play with the same roster set-up since his early days with the Hornets. Mikal reminds me of Rasual Butler back then. But Mikal is definitely way better.

If you let Mikal play on our team his scoring efficiency is very likely to drop with him taking more shots. Defensively, would he be better than Thybulle? I dont even appreciate Ben’s defense that much. Can Mikal anchor a team’s defense? Can Mikal not be wiped out after a ball handler call for a screen play?

Great defense nowadays have two components..

Double big PF-C
Double big SF-PF

Why? Because a big has to step out on those PnR where you still need size to play defense after

And thats why we’re losing now. Teams just run 2 man game and let Biid come out, if ever he does they’d just attack the paint.

And this is also why Blazers can’t figure their defense out. Powell-Roco-Nurkic doesnt have the size.

Also same reason why Jazz struggles in the playoffs. Once Gobert is out. The mouse comes to play in the paint. If Gobert dont step out, they just shoot wide open 3s.

Currently the two best set-ups on defense for me is the Cavs and the Warriors. Warriors have lengthy forwards who are very switchable and protect the paint. Their starting unit alone have 3 guys who can protect the paint (wiggins, Draymond and Looney) while Cavs starts with 3 bigs and have the third best defensive team with Markanen-Mobley-Allen.

I know Morey knows this and the change he wants can’t happen all at once and a lot also hinges on this Ben trade

Ive always wondered how to best play defense on the PnR. Right now, the best way is to have multiple lengthy players who can switch and rotate to the paint and block shots.

What’s your point exactly? Mikal has to shoot more to be less efficient? Or to drive more to force more turnovers?
Does Mikal suck? Should a team with a best record in the NBA put their 4th year player that’s happen to be the best wing defender on a trade block because he doesn’t shoot as much as you would want him to shoot?

Or you just don’t like him because he does not fit your criteria of being good?

He's Byron Russell. We were just talking about him the other day.

Long, atheltic defensive specialist with little to no offense.

Cant have a team full of Mikals but he is a great player to have on many teams. The Suns have a PG, a scorer, a bigman, and a stretch four. Mikal slots in nicely and brings the defensive chops. They have a spark plug guard off the bench and various spot up dudes to rotate. Their main issue is that they lack a back up big which is why Dario going down was actually pretty big for them in the finals it turns out.

Mikal is not worth the crying many Sixers fans do over him but he is a good player that every team needs/wants.

How many of these dudes taken after Mikal Bridges would you honestly prefer Mikal over?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Miles Bridges
Michael Porter
Lonnie Walker
Kevin Heurter
Grayson Allen
Anfernee Simons
Devontae Graham
Gary Trent

I'd take Mikal over maybe 2 or 3 guys on that list, at most. And yikes at paying him on average $22.5m over the next four years. Terrible contract for what he gives you on the offensive end.
