Feels like a dream come true to even see a speculative report linking us to Shai. This would be Morey's 2nd masterpiece.

Don't hesitate to throw in Maxey into that deal. Let's be honest guys. He doesn't shoot or play defense. He's not that good. He would need to become a willing shooter to ever be a useful piece for us that fits well. Don't see that happening any time soon (especially since he's somehow shooting even less threes this year than he did last year).

Even with Kemba's dead money, the Thunder can create almost 40M in cap room by waiving TPE's and miscellaneous cap holds.

This makes no sense for the Thunder. They are bad enough with Shai that they don't need to trade him to tank. If he was actually leading them to wins it would be a different story. If they trade for Simmons it would be with the intent to sit him out the rest of the year and I doubt Klutch will take kindly to that tactic. Presti doesn't need the headache of Simmons.

Them as a facilitator, absolutely. But I can't see Shai part of the deal.

Although, betting markets are betting markets. They generally don't lie so I don't know what to think.

I saw a comment that Shai can’t be traded for six months post extension but that this date in Feb still happens before the trade deadline.

I think Irving the player is exactly what we need on the court but that Irving the person is exactly who we don’t need in the locker room. What a conundrum. And I’m not gung ho on Lilliard either.

I keep wondering how OKC will ultimately consolidate all these picks. I said it before, but having that many picks just changes the trade calculus a bit in the way that Morey was forced to give up *four* 2nds for George freaking Hill at the deadline.

Of their numerous firsts, only a handful are worth their weight in gold, but those picks could be juicy for sure. The rest of the picks are largely heavily protected. Do they really want to continue to get even more picks at the deadline?

Going off on a tangent here, but they could somehow consolidate all those picks into something like two top-three picks this season and all of a sudden end up with a core of Josh Giddey-SGA-Jabari Smith and one of Chet Holmgren or Paolo Banchero.

I’ll add to that by saying Irving and Simmons are what we need on the court, but not in the locker room. A Kyrie/Simmons/Embiid trio would be the best in the NBA.
