If he can shoot, he’s the guy to target.

BPA no matter what in the draft. There’s no position that is “set” for the Magic at this time.

Maybe he can play the 3 in the NBA?

Would anyone on this board be interested in getting both Chet Holmgren and Javari Smith, if possible?

I love the aggressiveness, strong hands, athleticism, but the shot looks broken. He will have to make some changes if he wants to get it off in the nba. Looks like he short arms his free throws even.

I agree. I love the fact that he's willing to shoot threes (4.4 a game) because that's half the battle right there. And he's made 40% so far this season, but his FT% is in the low 70s and I'm not super convinced his current shooting form is going to translate.

But there's still a ton to like there.

Definitely. I'm not sure there is a superstar in this draft though so I'm looking for homerun glue/high energy guys and Ivey looks to fit the bill there. I haven't checked out any advanced stats though. Any advanced stats on his defense? He looks active but I don't know if the stats back up what I've seen in highlights.

I get Franz vibes from those highlights. Could do worse than having two of those guys on your team.

Here’s one to keep an eye on. Probably not in our range, but still in the lottery talk. Ousmane Dieng. 6’9 body, has handles and vision, and his scoring game has flashes of Paul George and MPJr as a pull up threat.

I think Jabari Smith and Ivey will both be stars.

Poll should read:

A) Play like shet for Chet

B) Play like a pile 'o crap for Paolo

C) Hardly win for Hardy

I don't understand why someone didn't give him a first-round guarantee last year to keep him in the draft. It made no sense to me that he was mocked in the 2nd round by everyone. He has good size and athleticism, a great-looking shot, and everything he does looks smooth. He didn't have a robust skill set, but the foundation looks great. His worst outcome is what? Brandon Rush?

WOW what a finish in Purdue/Rutgers.

I watched it to see Ivey and Rutgers hit a halfcourt buzzer beater to win.

Tough loss for Purdue. Ron Harper Jr had a nice game.

Scoot would probably be the number 1 pick this season if he was eligible.

I don't think it's a 'probably'. He would be the #1 pick.

This draft reminds me of the 2018 NBA draft, where Mr. Trade down made a lot of sense. At the time I was a huge fan of Orlando slotting don to the 9-12 range for one of: Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges, or most ideal, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That strategy is now proved that it would have been the correct move.

As to 2022 for example: Bennedict Mathurin could be the star of this draft. I would rather have him or Max Christie over Jaden Ivey or Jaden Hardy. Frankly none of the top-5 names on mocks excites me.

Or: just trade out of the draft. If the Knicks slide out of the play-ins, I could see the Knicks having an interest in a #6 pick (a likely range for Orlando). If the Magic could get a 2023 and 2024 FRP, this is a good move to allow Orlando's youth to grow-up and then have future rookies planned for the distant future.

..
