You can't make this stuff up. Typical Knicks.

Rose isn't a basketball savant, or an analytics expert. He has no expertise, besides a network of relationships that would've been useful in a different time period. I never understood why people ever had faith in this front office - it always seemed like wishful thinking to me.

Thibs is a basketball Republican. He's not going to experiment or innovate. He's predictable and risk averse.

We shouldn’t blame the players. The mistakes happened before any personnel move. These two hires put us on a path to mediocrity.

We just don't have good decision-makers.

The problem starts with Dolan who mandates that the Knicks need to remain competitive rather then do a full rebuild. It’s always a quick fix/rebuild on fly/try to be competitive plan to try to keep seats filled rather then a real long term rebuild. It’s just harder to pull off.

Dolan did sign off on a rebuild, but his trust was betrayed because the two people in charge were incompetent and didn't fulfill their promises (Mills and Perry). They made him look like a fool.

Dolan gave them the green light to tank for Zion.

Which was absolutely the right move.

The Knicks got unlucky at the lottery (as they always do because they are cursed), missed out on two generational prospects and made the wrong pick at #3 (RJ over Garland).

Then they missed out on KD and Kyrie.

That summer will forever live in infamy. It set this franchise to fail for at least a decade.

PS: Big picture I agree with you though. But I think Dolan is scarred by this public humiliation.

More likely Thibs is either ripping the rest of group a new a-hole (or has had a stroke...).

Future looked more promising when we had Fiz playing the kids. Freaking Kevin Knox won rookie of the month

We def have a schematic issue when it comes to C’s that can legitimately shoot 3s. Can’t continue to play drop against those teams. Mitch & Noel aren’t mobile enough for that.

Think you need to go small early and often, switch, and live with the results. We are s as steady a bad rebounding team with legit C’s so just try something different

It's the effort part I can't wrap my head around. And there's nothing to suggest it's a "we're over thibs" thing. They just don't put together 48 minutes of solid effort every game. It's the first thing that has to change.

We gave bags to Burks, Noel, Fournier & Kemba and let the Bulls get Lonzo, Caruso & DeMar.

The good news is if we keep losing you know Thibs is gonna start giving the kids more minutes. But then again how long did it take him to bench Elfrid last year? (Hopefully he learned.) It looks embarrassing for him to be losing like we are. He knows he has to start mixing things up. I think the Kemba benching was a sign of things to come (I hope.) Still waiting for Obi at the 5 (in general.)

The Knicks might not recover from this if they don't get their sheet together and get out of this treadmill that they're currently on.

I'm not even talking about fan wars and all of that, but players now know they can play in NY for a functional franchise, without being associated with the perennial loser image of the Knicks and the expectations that come with it.

The Nets are building their own tradition, with two all-time great players, whom other players respect. The Knicks are extremely lucky that Kyrie is one of the all-time headcases in league history so far.

Ok so at the beginning of the game it was obvious the Knicks were making quicker decisions. getting into their offense quicker, moving the ball and taking simple shots rather than turning them into spinning fadeaway falling out of bounds takes. there's no doubt in my mind that the coaches were in their ear about it. and it translated. for about five minutes and then all hell broke loose.
so this is where in game coaching comes into play. coach's job is to make them adhere to that style and if you see it slipping bring in other players to keep the game being played the right way. don't base it on some prescribed 9 minute mark bs or he's my first guy off the bench and this guy won't ever play etc. Coach...the game...that is being played.

I just mentioned this, but do you think there is a chance that Thibs is mildly losing the team?
I wonder if the hard practices, overwork, etc. is just getting old. That said, the kids have all looked pretty good in their limited minutes. Maybe that is due to Thibs, though they were all 3/+ year college players I think.

Maybe this is just the team learning to play together, but the increasing signs of lack of effort a little alarming.

Gotta have something.

Is this draft any good? This past draft sure was.

It’s a really weak draft. But it would be typical Knicks to tank in the wrong years.

Wasn’t the Ant Edwards/LaMelo draft described as “weak” too?

and eventually they'll sort that by either trading him for someone good or him playing. and they're first in the conference and 3rd best in the league in the meantime.
