I wouldn't blame them

But with Mitch, it's clear he ain't the same and how much should we pay him is a serious question at this point

And Quick is just really inconsistent

Relative to their draft position/pay, they're not bad, but they are playing worse than I'd like.

we are better off.....but let the dame trade commence!!!!!!!!

Honestly, for all my problems with trading for just Dame, at least that would give us a sense of direction

We're just meandering around right now, feels like we're just waiting for it to all click or for us to fall off a cliff, and the cliff seems more likely.

Yeah

But call me crazy, I don't feel like expending energy on "what-if"s at this point is worth it, I really don't care

It's about what can we do going forward that I'd rather focus on, cause you can't change the past, but you can learn from it and build a better future.

For sure, that's fair.

I still think that's the way for the Knicks regardless of the missed opportunity, unless Dame requests a trade to the Knicks and can be had at reasonable price (how we define reasonable is up for debate).

There are teams that want to win now, which might have assets that fit a rebuild. The Kings and the Hornets come to mind. Maybe the Timberwolves too. Sacramento and Minnesota are fairly desperate.

I think you and I disagree on Fox. Fox fits the Randle archetype imo, just in a different position. I don't think he's a great talent.

mitch is gonna make noel money probably. he's not getting paid much. the injuries have hurt his ability to cash out. he'll probably take a short deal and try to prove himself in 2 years or something. quick is a 2nd year player. we have 2 more years to evaluate him. these guys together make less than what taj is making this year.

The problem starts with Dolan who mandates that the Knicks need to remain competitive rather then do a full rebuild. It’s always a quick fix/rebuild on fly/try to be competitive plan to try to keep seats filled rather then a real long term rebuild. It’s just harder to pull off.

Dolan did sign off on a rebuild, but his trust was betrayed because the two people in charge were incompetent and didn't fulfill their promises (Mills and Perry). They made him look like a fool.

Dolan gave them the green light to tank for Zion.

Which was absolutely the right move.

The Knicks got unlucky at the lottery (as they always do because they are cursed), missed out on two generational prospects and made the wrong pick at #3 (RJ over Garland).

Then they missed out on KD and Kyrie.

That summer will forever live in infamy. It set this franchise to fail for at least a decade.

PS: Big picture I agree with you though. But I think Dolan is scarred by this public humiliation.

Dolan did put his trust into Mills, but that in itself was a horrible decision. Mills had no business running a team. I don't think they were trying to intentionally tank. Mills plan was to try to be competitive but the Knicks were horrible so they had to pivot, which was fine. But in the grand scheme they had no real plan
Play the middle and keep the Garden sold out.

Honestly, I don't see Fox as a #1 guy because I just don't think you can have his playstyle and be a #1 guy in today's league

I know I have the reputation as a Ja hater, but even him, I think he'd be better off as a secondary scorer with someone else to be the #1 while he focuses on playmaking

So I would actually kind of agree on the Randle thing, to the point of, he'd be a decent 2nd/3rd option on a good team and would help them win if he focused on facilitating and put in the effort on defense. And that he's limited as a #1.

My problem with Fox is, can you really be a #2 or #3 on a winning team if you can't shoot from 3 and you're not a roller (like AD or Ayton for instance)?

I view Fox as a losing player if he's a starter. I think his best role would be 6th man, like Derrick Rose but with less crunch time responsibilities. Maybe I'm too harsh on him, but I don't see it with him.

I'd rather take a chance on Hali or Mitchell - though I'm sure the Kings aren't looking to trade them.

Barnes plus picks wouldn't be too bad either.

As the Knicks continue to lose and Randle stat pads the rest of the season, everyone will lose interest in the game threads until it's only you posting about how great Randle is, GreenArrow quoting you and adding a million !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Shams quoting both and saying "Jesus"
So ... no change.

0-3 since Kemba was pulled from the rotation…

That’s what Thibs gets for trying to fix something that wasn’t broken, smdh

Ehhh it was pretty broken. There just isn’t one lineup change that’s going to fix this team. There needs to be changes to the personnel period via trades

First order of business is trading Fournier for an expiring or asset. This will open up playing time for Grimes. After that, it’s deciding between Mitch and Noel. If Mitch is willing to take the same contract that Noel took, then trade Noel for an expiring or asset. This opens up playing time for Sims. After that, we need to decide between Randle and Toppin. If the team wants to continue building with Randle, then cash out in trade involving Toppin and Quickley. This opens up playing time for McBride and Knox. Ok I’m just kidding about Knox.

This is hopeless. Seriously we are done. This team has no identity, no talent to look forward. Gotta blow it up

I dunno

We were two games over .500, lost one game to Phoenix, Kemba rested the next game and all of a sudden, Kemba is out of the rotation…

We haven’t won a game since and it looks like a panic move that destabilized the team…

I didn’t see this game but how were we down by 30?

The general consensus on our youngsters. It’s really hard when you draft 2 bust in the lottery (RJ and Knox) and 1 sixth man in the lottery (Obi). The future is kinda bleak here

If both teams are at full health, there is no reason anyone would pick that team over ours.

Whenever I think about how crappy this season has been, I think about imagining our building blocks being RJ and Julius Randle
