Just a few thoughts on it...
1. I for one don't hate on Stephen A because I find him to be like a bad comedy, he's just mildly funny for the wrong reasons but his job is a sports entertainer and that's what he does and clearly well because he's still the biggest name doing it BUT someone needs to tell me when he's been right about rumors?! If he has it has to be rare but he's the same dude who proclaimed KD/Kyrie to Knicks was a done deal.....sooo there's that and again a lot of what he says and does is for ENTERTAINMENT, gain eyes and ears for his network/pay check
2. I don't like it for POR unless there is many picks over many years because then it will inevitably payoff when the Knicks eventually bomb again. But right now, getting back Barrett and bunch of bloated contracts aren't that enticing if I'm POR ownership, no real marquee young player to sell the fans on.
3. Believe it or not if I'm the Knicks I would seriously consider it. It won't lead to a championship but neither will what they're doing now. Dame would just make the ride a bit more entertaining I'm sure he'll draw a FA. Not saying it will be a MVP caliber player, maybe it's just another all-star type but I just think having legitimate stars builds the brand up. Don't compare it to Melo, there was nothing wrong with that in theory but that Amare's body couldn't hold up. The Knicks for a hot second looked like they had the potential to be a top team in the East when Amare was still healthy but it didn't hold up and it all folded like a deck of cards but had he been able to that probably would've been one of the best time periods for the franchise but such is life..
I think Dame could do as Melo did and draw another "bigger" name to the Knicks, as long as it's not another injury prone player, I think MSG would be bumpin like never before, might as well enjoy the good times and it could actually help start shifting the narrative of great players wanting to go there BUT I get it if Knicks fans want to see things build organically, as fan of franchise that did something like that despite the rollercoaster of ups n downs, it's fun watching your players grow up and you have them for longer, just overall I don't mind it for the Knicks and for POR the only thing that would make it worth it imo isn't Barrett, IQ etc, it's a long list of picks.
