This year's pick is lotto protected, otherwise going to Chicago (Larry Nance trade) apparently

To be honest, for Portland, Simmons would be an incredible upgrade and asset, if you look at their needs.

But just don't see why Philadelphia would take CJ, or they can move him to another team

But a lot of picks (3 minimum) and Anfernee Simons (upgrade over Milton) should be attached

Definitely. I believe Simmons for Lillard, straight up (and with little filler involved) is fair game.

I agree with you, I think the Sixers won't want McCollum... Portland should move him to another team.

Also, if Portland is indeed going for a rebuild they will want to keep their picks, so they won't be looking to use them in any "trade up" scenarios (their player for a better player, etc).

Cheers.

We don't do this here. If he wants to leave, it's because he is not good enough and needs help to win and needs to stack the deck. If he doesn't want to leave, it's because he doesn't care about winning and is just content collecting paychecks.

I think swapping CJ for Ben no matter what else they included would eliminate them going for a rebuild. With how this year has gone they are probably a top 4 team in the west immediately

Obviously it would, as Simmons is both a better player than McCollum, and also 5 years younger too. It would be a coup for Portland!

But here's what I would ask you: as a Sixers fan, would you like this trade to happen? Would you go for it?

I find that this trade would be horrible for Philadelphia.

Doubt you'd get Lillard without moving Maxey... also have you been living under a rock? Simmons is not going back there.

No direct quote from Dame here, just sources close to, he can pretty easily deny it if asked.

Genuinely curious why people think Simmons would would end his lockout to play in Portland without Lillard. He’s made it clear he doesn’t want to be in Portland without Lillard here.

Anyone pumping the Lillard for Simmons trade only ever cares about the Philly side and seeing Dame with Embiid, they never consider the Portland side.

Then the Sixers will keep Simmons for 4 years, as Morey has said, and Simmons will keep losing money. No problemo.

Simmons and Maxey for Lillard is doable, maybe.

But Simmons leaving the Sixers without Dame in return? Highly unlikely, unless the other team is fleeced of its first round picks and pick swaps for the next 3-5 years. We ain't desperate and are patient folk :)

Morey isn't the GM to get fleeced

That's why they were talking about 6 picks to add to McColumn

They probably would use most of those picks to attach to CJ or Tobias to ship him to another team

If OKC doesn't think 139 picks is enough, ship Tobias (with those picks) to OKC for SGA

    Something like

OKC: Picks Portland + Philadelphia + Tobias Harris + ...
    POR: Simmons + Milton
PHI: CJ + SGA + Covington

That would give Philadelphia a possible line-up of:

    SGA
    CJ
    Green
    Covington
    Embiid

While they improve their bench with Curry and Maxey

Portland gets much better on D

    Lillard
    Simons
    Powell
    Simmons
    Nurkic

Serious question to those thinking a CJ-Ben trade is remotely possible:

Why would Morey make a trade to keep Dame, his ultimate trade target, happy in Portland?
    2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

    Maxey/McCain/Lowry
    Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
    Oubre/Edwards
    George/Watford/Barlow
    Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Simmons reps flip flop all the time, thats not really the question you are asking here.

For Portland, its fair to say they have failed to build around Lillard, its fair to say he is on the decline, its fair to say he will be getting payed 40+ mil of the cap space. If one is a Portland fan and a Lillard fan they would ideally want what is best for both, assuming the person is even a fan of the team and not just a fan of a player.

Here Portland gets Simmons on a long term contract and can rebuild around him and some first round draft picks. For Lillard he gets a real chance to compete and could win a ring with the 76er depending on how things play out. For all we know Lillard can be a flop in the 76er and Portland comes out winning with a lottery pick or two.

No interest in rebuilding around Simmons. He's a 25 year old headcase who hasn't improved in 5+ years in the league. Not saying Dame couldn't end up in Philly, but in that case a 3 team deal with someone like Sacramento seems more likely.

Portland would be looking for cap relief, cheap young talent, and draft picks in a Lillard trade.

Haven’t seen any updates that he wanted specific teams or situations. This whole thing has been about getting out of Philly

Oh, you're right. I guess he'll just trade Simmons for CJ to take Dame off the table. How could I overlook that?

This is as good as its going to get for Philly. I would take it and call it a day.
    Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
