Yep. May not be a superstar yet but Shai certainly has that upside and is better than almost anything else you could get for Ben.

Don't overcomplicate it. It's basically Ben, Maxey, Thybulle, and removing protection from an already owed 1st for Shai.

Maxey is playing better than Shai this year AND is younger....

Sending him AND Ben AND compensation to OKC for Shai is ubber bad, and on top of that you gave them CJ because reasons.

Just like he’s still better than Anthony Edwards too huh?

Maxey is nowhere near as good as you think he is lol. Could he get there? Possibly. But you pumping him up at every turn is likely to look embarrassing really soon.

CJ apparently just started following Seth, Joel, Tobias, Thybulle, Maxey Jalen Hurts, and others on IG.

He also just started following someone I know who is VERY connected to the team. I don’t know what all this means but I’ll just leave it at that.

Not sure how reliable or relevant it is. Lillard's recent tweet infers that these reports are being over dramatized.

If Portland wants to do CJ, Simons or Little and a first that's a pretty obvious refuting of everyone saying that the Sixers overplayed their hand by not selling Simmons off in the offseason. Not saying that would be an awesome return or anything but Simmons' "trade value" is fine.

I'm sure. I just vacillate between being overly dramatic w/ this situation and not caring at all. After actually looking at stuff happening today, I doubt anything comes of this. The Blazers are in free fall and suddenly they snap their fingers and Dame gets his wish? Unlikely. I guess the new management could be acquiescing to Daryl's demands but that sounds kinda crazy too.

I think what happened here is Shams felt like he should do an article on the Blazers after Olshey got fired. Not sure if there is much if any new information.

The real question is who is really making the high level basketball decisions in that organization now. Right now they're potentially in a similar power vacuum that the Sixers were in post-Burnergate.

Is the consensus that Simons is more desirable than Little?

I'm not pumping him up, i think his ceilling is at best someone like Lowry, which is impressive for where he was selected.

But some of you really fall in love with players that have not show too much either. Shai had an amazing year last season, but if you look at him now, he falled of a cliff. It's not like this is his sophomore or rookie season either, guy has been in the league 4 years already

Let's say Maxey and Shai reach their potentinal and Shai is better than Maxey like expected. Are you willing to trade ceilling Maxey, Ben, CJ and Picks for Ceiling Shai? sorry, you're just dumb if you do.

You can still try to get Shai if you add other stuff onto Ben. But throwing an AD pack out there for a guy who can be a superstar but only into a hypothetical world is still an hypothetical good trade, sorry to break it.

And yes, Maxey is still better than Anthony Edwards and will be until someone sit with Edwards and teach him shot selection.

Yes, that certainly seems to be the case.

There's no way Morey goes from CJ, 3 1sts, and 3 swaps down to CJ, Simons, and one 1st straight up though.

The owner there, Jody Allen, inherited the team from her brother when he died. She doesn't even like basketball  So if they have some EVP in charge of ops or something... that's the person in charge right now and they might be more receptive to Dame's demands.

Simons doesn’t turn 23 until June. However, he becomes an RFA this off-season.

Little turns 22 in a month or so, and has an extra year on his contract.

CJ, Simons, a first this year and a future first seems fair to me considering this current version of Simmons. I don’t know how you can realistically ask for more than that.

I'm not completely opposed to getting CJ, as long as the package around him fits what we need. Simons or Little, as we need more wings, at least one draft pick as we aren't getting Morey's opening offer and never were. Maybe Nance as we need some additional athletic defenders, and his salary nicely matches Danny Green's. Do not want Covington as he seems to be toast.

At some point there would likely need to be a second trade that moves Maxey or Curry at its core for a bigger, athletic complement to our otherwise teensy backcourt.

Dame did us a solid by saying he wants Simmons, that essentially throws CJ under the bus and gives Morey the ability to get a better return. If we keep Maxey, CJ and Tobias's contracts would expire and be expiring in the same timeframe, and just before Maxey is due for an extension if he continues earning it. That might be the summer they can make the next set of big moves to build around post-prime Embiid in his Duncan years.

In the context of a Simmons-CJ deal, I have no clue why we'd have any interest in Simons. He's somewhat interesting as a player, but I don't see a clear spot for him in the rotation. It'd be tough enough getting enough work for CJ, Maxey and Curry as small, offense first guards.

The picks are not worth much to this team. We are not rebuilding. If the Trailblazers are willing to trade dame for Simmons then we do the deal but CJ contract will get awful quick. He is not a max guy getting paid max money and who disappears in the playoffs. We already have Harris for that role.

Ostensibly to flip for the real target in a trade.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
