Another impressive win!
The team has now reached the level of confidence that allows them to play the same way even when important pieces are missing.

Ball directs that play all the way he first waves off Zach giving it to him, tells Zach to give it to Ayo and then tells Ayo to throw it up.
Yep. His instincts for the game, where the ball should go, how defenders will move, where the ball will go when he defends, is so so so good. That’s the thing that’s had me sold on him since his rookie year. He has a lot to improve on still, but he has instincts that just can’t be taught.

Re: PG:Team Effort
I was at the Nets game ... and one of my favorite things I could observe that I couldn't see on TV was how often Ayo goes to the sideline to speak with Donovan (like to during dead ball situations/FTs).
Today's performance really felt like year 2 Jimmy. Insane hustle, grit, right place right time, being in tune and following the leadership of the teams real stars.
Happy he's very clearly a favorite of his teammates.

We really had two guys who turned in a 20/10 performance tonight, and it wasn’t even Zach!

Re: PG:Team Effort
Great game.
BTW was thinking about how much better the NBA is without the stupid touch fouls. Anybody else feel like 2011-2019 was a dark age of the Lebron and then Durant super teams? On top of that, we had these already gifted players with cheat-code super teams getting about 10-20 FTs a game from the zebras, making it more impossible than impossible to beat them.
Now that Harden, Trae and Lebron don't get free ref assists every night, the league is open... and defensive guys like Lonzo, Ayo and Caruso can actually play some beautiful defense. I do wonder whether this talented defensive backcourt would have to work a lot harder with foul trouble in prior seasons. They play really skilled, clean defense, but even then, it's a different story when you know that there's about a 90% chance of getting 4-5 whistles if you happened to defend a star a little tighter.

Great coaching. Great team win!
Look, normally I would say this is hyperbole but with an actual basis ... but Lonzo year 2021-22 is really looking and feeling like Gary "the Glove" Payton and Sidney Moncrief level of defensive impact from the guard spot.
Is it hyperbole ... yeah, probably; it's still less than 30 games in. But before we know it we'll be 50-60 and if he's still doing the same things (which I firmly believe he will) then it's not really hyperbole anymore at all.
(Moncreif and the Glove are my barometers for guard excellence ... of course there's Jordan but that's a two-way player of a different caliber. Perhaps Bruce Bowen, Dumars, Michael Cooper are others ... holy smokes if Lonzo truly puts his career in that area that's a freaking amazing piece you talk about for championship level teams! OK, getting ahead of myself a bit, I can't help it!)

I thought the GB posters said that we're a shallow team?
No Derozan, AC, Patrick Williams, and Coby White.... think about it.
Comments:
- Ayo "this is my house" Dosunmu is looking like Miles Morales out there all over the floor doing everything. We must be living in one of the Spider-Verse and Ayo is our Spiderman.
- Zach Lavine... one word ... Maturity
- If Derrick Jones Jr. becomes a three-point threat like he was in this game, it's over.
- I just knew that Matt Thomas was going to hit that shot near the end of 3rd. He was ready to launch all game.
- Vuc is solid. Not the best shooting night, but defend Jokic well, and still much better shooting than early this season.
- Lonzo stepped up his scoring tonight. We're so lucky to have a guy with such high BBall IQ and can contribute in many ways.
- Game ball goes to AK. DJJ, Ayo, Derozan, AC... that's all signings in one single summer. And tonight without Derozan and AC, DJJ and Ayo showed up in a huge way.

Re: PG:Team Effort
I was thinking about watching the replay of this game when I got home from work and then saw that DeMar and Caruso were out and thought "we're probably gonna get slaughtered"...
So I decided to boxscore watch whilst at work and seeing the first quarter I was happy with my decision.
Then by half time I see we're down 3, I think "Wow, the boys are trying to make a game of this".
2nd half... I couldn't boxscore watch anymore, I bought league pass and I was gonna use it!
Tuned in during the 4th, damn that was some fun basketball to watch, Ayo was amazing, loving the rook.
I think I'm gonna have to watch the whole game tonight...
This team continues to exceed my expectations of them, I continue to write them off and they continue to make me look like a fool.
I love this team.

Re: PG:Team Effort
Magnificent game by Zach. You can tell he has already learned some things from DeRozan on how to close out games. He was in complete control. And he maintained his complete sure despite getting fouled on almost every drive in the 2nd half. Refs really don’t like him.

The guys that comes to my mind was .. Celtic's Dennis Johnson (DJ). Not his Seattle Supersonics days, but his later years in Boston as a defensive player. Lonzo is much more dynamic, because he's younger. But same level defensive IQ and tenacity.

What does Vuc need to keep Team Jokic happy in Counter Strike? we need to hire gaming coach for Vuc, we want Vuc to be one of Joker's main guy in that team.
"Vuc, you have a mission, be on Jokic ear on how great Chicago is and reunion with AK is his destiny."
Let's go.

Re: PG:Team Effort
This win really has me fired up. Coming off an exciting weekend running the city of New York and missing an MVP candidate and DPOY candidate (not to mention our 2nd year, 4th overall pick starting PF and the guy who was replacing him) and this team could have easily written this one off. Instead we pull off a not all that close win over a legitimate western conference playoff team with the reigning MVP. The year to year difference in sheer talent on this roster continues to blow my mind. Each game garners more and more appreciation for the job AKME have done here.

He knows how to use that length and combo it with his ridiculous athleticism too... A real revelation this season.

Re: PG:Team Effort
I trust AKME (never thought I would say I trust a Bulls front office) will find a legit big to help round out the roster but if they can't for whatever reason, I feel like this team as currently constructed can go very deep in the playoffs. I'm not sure they are a championship winning squad, yet, but ECF is definitely a possibility this year.

Re: PG:Team Effort
I had to miss the game traveling but one thing I saw on the highlights is that there was a play with the shot clock running down where zach called for a dribble handoff with ayo and ayo did a helluva job making sure he set a good screen after the handoff and it freed up zach enough to get a layup.
How often have we seen our guards (looking at you Coby White) half ass the handoff and it results in a steal or no room for the attacking player to do anything? That's the sort of attention to detail that leads Donovan to say "he loves coaching him" -- because he pays attention to the little things and if you do the little things right it creates a high floor when you're on the court.
