Lol. So not an easy pass then.

Yes easy pass. The Pacers aren't accepting Dragic/Boucher/Flynn package for Turner/Sabonis. Those are the only assets I'm willing to part with right now.
In reality the Pacers are gonna ask for either OG/Pascal and multiple draft picks. In which case it's an easy pass.

Meh, I’d do Trent and Flynn for Turner without a ton of thought.

I'd probably also add Trent to the list for Turner, but again why would the Pacers take that package? Seems like Rap fans living in la la land. Ya'll know you wouldn't take that package either. IMO they would most likely ask for Pascal, OG or FVV as a starting point with picks and filler.

That's actually a pretty solid offer for both teams. This draft looks pretty mediocre/below average. 2 games back of 6th as of now and Turner probably pushes the Raptors to that range.
Vanvleet - Banton
Anunoby - Trent Jr
Barnes - Watanabe
Siakam - Achiuwa
Turner - Birch
I really like this draft and there are a number of really interesting prospects in the lottery that I would be extremely hesitant to send to Indy. I'd trade Siakam because it gives both teams a starting player without a loss of any picks and the timelines are the same when they hit FA.
Draft picks can equate to superstars, especially within the lottery range. At the very least you are getting a controllable player for a few years. Turner is a free agent in 2023. You burn a lotto pick for 1.5 years of Turner, you better believe that this is a contender with the move.
Trading Dragic shouldn't cost us anything.
Skeezo wrote:Meh! While Turner would be a nice get, outside of GTJ, we really don't have the pieces. If Indiana is going into rebuild mode, they will not be interested in Siakim, and we are still at a point in our rebuild that we are not about relinquishing draft assets unless it is a player much better than Turner.

- Raptors RealGM Forum re: Masai Ujiri - June 2023What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Dragic will be bought out. People just need to accept this fact.
It's actually not a fact, it's your opinion. I agree that, if the Raptors are unable to find a deal by the deadline, then Dragic will indeed be bought out. That said, I will be shocked if they can't get something for him. They got 2nd rounders for Davis and Thomas last year, and Dragic is easily as valuable as either of them. IMHO, it is extremely likely that Dragic will be moved for assets, not bought out.
Dragic is making 19 million and we would have to attach picks or take back contracts which could put us in the tax this year and next year. the buyout is the last resort, but I highly doubt a team gives up anything for him.
David and thomas were both making nothing last year and were also significantly younger than Dragic so not comparable at all.

Just finished reading this article by BR: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2942713-inside-the-turbulent-tenure-of-indiana-pacers-coach-nate-bjorkgren. Apparently Nate was an assistant in Phoenix and coached TJ Warren there. When TJ heard the news that Nate was going to be the new head coach in Indiana he apparently asked to be traded from the Pacers. The whole article is damning, and it surprises me that our FO would hire him back if half of this stuff is true.
Anyway, none of those Pacers players interest me in the slightest.

I would say the Pacers players not being able to get it done with 3 different coaches in 3 years is the most damning thing (on either the players or management). 2 of those being established veterans with good reps in Mcmillan and Carlisle.
Those articles were largely inside hatchet jobs. Nate is no means near perfect and appears to not be modern day head coach material, but they blew up everything. Hell one of those articles made a big deal that Nate was pro-active and took initiative under Nick Nurse in setting up staff meetings and communications without Nick's clear go ahead, and apparently that was a problem. They described it as Nate "controlling communications". Come on now, WTF.
TJ Warren denied the trade request claim (whether it was true or not)
Raptors including Lowry came to Nate's defence
If it was such an issue the Raptors would not have brought him back.

For such a talented guy Sabonis doesn't equate to winning despite having the ball in his hands the most. He's like Kevin Love in Minny. Just a good player putting up great numbers on a bad team. They had Nate McMillan, then Nate Bjorkgren, and now poor Carlisle is figuring out what to do building around Sabonis.
Tsarks recently wrote about Turner and it is interesting how Turner is the guy that is always in trade rumours and they never built around him. To me he is like Ibaka, kind of undervalued, but no one his size shoots as many threes and blocks shots. It's like having Chris Boucher who is 30 lbs heavier, and can make shots at 39% from outside. How can a skill set and size like Turner's not be in demand?
