Paul Allen's trust is run by his sister, Jody. She's not a basketball fan. So any move she signs off on will be more of business move. That being said, Portland has a long history of sellouts even prior to Dame. POR fans are ready to move on. And rumor has it a new GM wants the authority to be able to trade Dame. Don't forget Danny Ainge is angling for that job. So I imagine they end up selling at the deadline and then ripping it all down in the summer.

Simmons and Curry plus picks for Powell and Lillard makes a ton of sense for both clubs

Nah... I'd rather cut Powell out and move him somewhere else for likely better return if I'm Portland. There's no way you avoid Thybulle, Maxey, Simmons, and picks for Powell+Lillard.

I have Powell worth more than a 1st. Maybe two 1sts or a decent prospect and a 1st. Lillard is worth a minimum of Simmons+two 1sts.

Curry holds little value to the Blazers in a blow up scenario and would need to be routed to a 3rd team who could provide something that did provide value. I think the value's off here.

Looks like Bradley Beal is back to staring at the exit. Multiple teams near blowing it up and a few stars looking very available. This is shaping up fairly well for a trade that lets the Sixers continue to be top contenders post Simmons. Very interested to see how Morey lands this.

Celtics are confident in getting him. Which seems to imply they feel like solving their issue with having 2 ball reliant wings by having.....2 ball reliant wings who are friends?

I just checked his current year stats and they are astoundingly bad. Is he playing hurt? Shooting with the wrong hand?

I think you are missing a key component. They will have 2 ball reliant wings, who are friends, that are BOTH shooting career lows from deep. Problem solved.

Ben is looking for a trade, not a contract extension. A trade request two years after signing a contract extension isn’t too shocking, especially after Ben’s collapse. However, an extension request at this point is highly unusual.

Nevertheless, Dame will be 32 next summer. Guaranteeing as many $50 million seasons as possible is smart. I’m sure he has plenty of money, but securing an extra $100 million at 35 and 36 years old will allow him to secure income that could change life for generations of his family. Watching guys like Iverson go broke, you appreciate an athlete trying to squeeze every penny out of his 15 year window of having elite talent.

When Dame’s contract expires, he will be 35 and get nothing close to that on the open market. Right now, he can bully an organization into making a dumb commitment to a contract extension based on his current skill level and their current desperation.

If you’re the Sixers, an extension like this really lowers your interest in Lillard. Having a guy at 35 and 36 years old, with a lot of miles on his body, on your cap for $50 million/year, is a huge negative.

Yeah I think this being leaked is a loyalty test by him. Dame is willing to commit to Portland, is Portland willing to commit to Dame? If they aren't, then this sets the wheels in motion for a trade without him having to actually request it, which seems to be important to him. Who knows if he'll actually raise a stink if the team trading for him doesn't offer it.

Link, where are you seeing this? Would definitely prefer Beal over Dame...

I was out on Lillard before this latest news of extensions and preferences of destination, but that cements it. I certainly hope Morey has turned his attention elsewhere, and there seem to be better options popping up on a daily basis.

Yeah, but look at Jaylen Brown's numbers and contract compared to Ben Simmons' numbers and contract. Pretty easy decision to make if you're Washington. Especially since Beal wants to go to Boston and play with Tatum.

It actually seems like a pretty good idea to test Portland.

If anything, it would lower the cost of acquiring him. I’d probably still do it because he’s our best shot at a chip within the next 3 seasons.

That being said, I think he gets traded well before he’s eligible to sign that extension in Portland.

Question for anyone: If someone trades for him before July, is he still eligible for that extension?

I would trade Dame after 2 playoff runs if we didn’t win & recoup some assets

He hasn’t got the skill set of CP so can’t the risk of that contract becoming a massive anchor

Probably too complicated, but I'd be excited about lineup of Lillard/Green/RoCo/Barnes/Embiid. Feels like compensation for Portland and Sacramento is pretty fair.

Really not sold on Lillard anymore (age, production this season, money attached to contract, injury)

I wouldn't go further than Simmons + Milton for him straight up

I've always been intrigued by Fred Van Vleet.
A Van Vleet + Dragic + future pick for Simmons trade would work.

Try to get Ingram next summer by using Harris + Korkmaz + Maxey + picks

Fred Van Vleet
Curry
Thybulle
Ingram
Embiid

+ a lot more cap flexibity to go after FA - pick ups

Enough playmaking
Enough shooting
Enough scoring
Enough D

Length in the backcourt could be a problem, but can be solved by adding a decent PF (or Paul Reed should improve a lot) and moving Seth to the bench role, which would be awesome anyway
