If we're going to compare him to future hall of famers and top 75 players of alltime, his game resembles Kawhi more than Giannis imo.

He's not as athletic as Giannis, but he's a better shooter. Hopefully his shooting doesn't fall off in year 2 like Giannis' did.

I don’t see the brute force of giannis and he is already a more reliable shooter. I can see some shades of Kawhi and young Tracy Mcgrady. He has all the tools it just remains to be seen if he puts it together

I see him more as a young Andre Iguodala with better passing, a stronger Tayshaun Prince, or maybe even a bit of Jamal Mashburn if he can use his body on the block a little more.
Whatever the comparison, Giannis ain’t it.

Re: Can Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes be the next Giannis Antetokounmpo?
giannis is literally a freak of all freaks....
His combination of basketball athleticism at his particular size, ball-handling, rebounding, is literally once in a decade or 2 decades.
Not even prime Lebron had Giannis level of athleticism, arguably.
Top 0.1% currently, and of all time
Scottie is a guy who's a good athlete, where maybe there's 1 or 2 other guys with similar physical attributes, and talent
Basically top 1-2 % tier at the moment...which is good but means there's like 20-30 other guys more athletic than him

Because the coaching staff made changes to his form unfortunately. Let’s hope they don’t “correct” Barnes’ form.

Ive always compared him to a bigger stronger maybe less athletic andre Iguodala(lower end) or a bigger stronger scottie pippen(higher end)
Either way, very exciting prospect with many all star selections in his future

Their's literally only one Giannis in this world, Barnes is closer to Kawhi. What makes Giannis special is his height, Barnes just isnt tall enough to be compared to Giannis

Re: Can Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes be the next Giannis Antetokounmpo?
They have some similarities but are different players.
Giannis is easily taller, faster and more explosive than Barnes. Giannis is the most athletic/explosive player in the league since prime Lebron.
Barnes, on the other hand, seems like he will easily be a better perimeter player than Giannis and is a better facilitator. His athleticism is more Kawhi-like, a bit more rigid but very strong with great length and big hands.
The big similarity between Giannis and Barnes is there ability to grab a defensive rebound and push the ball up the floor and get to the rim extremely quickly. That's something only a handful of players at their size can do. And quite frankly, it's a skill only a handful on NBA players at that size had - Guys like Lebron, Magic, Giannis, Durant, Green, Odom etc.

He can be the next Scottie Barnes and that's good enough.

They are very different players but given how low my expectations were for Barnes as a rookie,
If the kid puts in the effort and keeps playing with this sort of energy I think the sky is the limit.

Barnes is not as quick as either Iguodala or Prince offensively and defensively, but he is stronger and looks like a better shooter (to be developed)

Definitely don't see much similarities to Giannis. Closer to Kawhi in terms of athleticism/style and what he can aspire to be. Obviously, he's a better passer and seems to have the strength but remains to be seen if he can be the defender and closer/shooter with killer mentality that Kawhi is. Barnes has a different mental makeup obviously but can definitely see where he can develop into a guy who plays at his own pace rather than have pace dictated to him by opponents.

Judging from his interviews, I don't think he likes being compared to other players. He can forge his own path and create a new basis of comparison.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Giannis is an outlier. Barnes will be a good one though. His work ethic is unmatched. I have no doubt he will reach his ceiling. Sky is the limit for this kid. Think he could be the next Kawhi.

Re: Can Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes be the next Giannis Antetokounmpo?
I don't think he has the type of length and athleticism to be like GIannis. You are talking about a player who can finish anywhere around the rim with force. Scottie doesn't have that type of gravity.
Honestly, I'd be happy if he ended up like Antawn Jamison. He really reminds of him as far as the offensive game. Just one of those funky PFs that can score with a variety of flipshots and can make some nice passes from the highpost. Jamison had a nice 16 year career but never reached superstar status.
Jamison came into his own by age 23, so it is possible Scottie exceeds his career arc. I just put a floor on Scottie because he is more of a two-way guy rather than a go-to guy. Two very different things, as I think Scottie is never going to be a high usage player - not with his current high handle and lack of burst.

Interesting comparison. I don’t see the similarities but at least it’s different from the usual comparisons. I have one that’s a bit different too...I see Chris Webber in him. Probably one of my favourite players growing up but career suffered due to injuries. Webber could do it all and was a great passer. He could take it coast to coast after a defensive rebound and was pretty money from the mid range area

Lol has anyone in NBA history ever compared to Giannis? Dude is an outlier on the highest levels.
Comparing Barnes to Giannis is like comparing Zion to Shaq...
