Can't trade Trent until January 15th, so we gotta wait

ya might as well trade him if FVV won't pass to him when he's wide open for the win...

I don't see why the Pacers would want GTJ

They have brogdan, Lavert, Duarte. They're good at SG imo

More I think about it, more I believe Myles Turner can be a solid center to a contending team. He's only 25 so he fits with the Barnes OG timeline. He can shoot 3s and block shots. By all defensive metrics is a plus defender and good team rebounder. He has a 3 point shot so he can fit with a Barnes' led team in a few years. I think Dragic (salary filler), a 2022 top 5 protected first round pick, Malachi Flynn is a fair trade. This year's draft is supposedly pretty weak, so its not a horrible time to trade our first round pick.

Pacers were looking to dump Turner when Nate was the coach. I know Nate wasn’t the GM but he was new to the job and organizations usually include the head coach in roster construction discussions to some extent. That doesn’t mean that Nurse would have the same opinion or that Nate even does. Turner was also available presumably at a time that Baynes was our Centre for way cheaper than he is now and we didn’t seem interested then. Something tells me we have no interest in Turner and he is going to be a perpetual Raptors realgm wetdream.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

We can be contending in a few years if Barnes and OG develops. Point is, Turner's young age means he can be part of our contending timeline so a trade for him isn't sacrificing the future.

I actually think Sabonis is the higher potential player. He's already put up allstar calibre numbers.

I see Turner as a high end role player. Solid starting C on a good team who can block shots and hits 3s, but I'd be surprised if he ever played in an allstar game.

Sabonis is a 2-time all-star, he's the bigger name I think, and should cost a lot more in a trade. I'd take Sabonis in a second, but I think he's closer to his ceiling than Turner. Turner I think would fit our system better, being a lot more versatile defensively and more able to stretch the floor.

The problem with Sabonis is that he is hard to build around.

Meanwhile, our salary is already reserved for Siakam, OG, VanVleet and Trent, so I am not sure we can keep them all if we give Sabonis the next contract. Even one of Trent or VanVleet is part of the trade, I am not sure we need another player who needs the ball that much. So I think Turner is the better fit for us.

might be a repost.

The Raptors have had “their eyes on” both of Indiana’s bigs for years, according to a league source; Turner in particular. It’s not hard to see the fit. The seventh-year centre and former lottery pick is leading the NBA in blocked shots for the third time in four seasons. He’s also hitting 40 per cent of his threes. Sabonis isn’t the defender that Turner is, but he’s one of the craftiest low-post scoring threats in the game.

Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster will surely make a call and kick the tires, as they do whenever an impact player is believed to be available. But as the trade market heats up – this summer’s free agent signees are eligible to be moved starting next Wednesday, with the deadline scheduled for February 10 – they’ll have some big decisions to make.

Brog plays PG, LeVert is bad, and Duarte is already 2 years older than GTJ.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

GTJ brings so much to the table with no attitude ego and plays within the game. He should absolutely be part of the team going forward.

X/GTJ/OG/Barnes/x should be the core

I'd welcome Turner and Levert in a package. I'm not sure who would be going out though.

Lol the Toronto media is not a reliable source since they have never broken any news since this team's existence.

A concern I have with Turner is that his role here wouldn't be as different as it is with Indiana currently.
He seems to want a bigger role than just a role player but I don't see that changing as long as we have FVV, Pascal, and Scottie.
Maybe a change of scenery is really all he needs?

He does want a bigger offensive role, but also wants defensive player of the year. Would he get more consideration for that in TO? He would fit like a glove here defefensively, and if we started winning games after trading for him, I think it would absolutely better his chances of getting it, cause he's not getting it in Indy.

I would think they would want a better prospect than Malachi

Agreed, I think it would have to be more on the Yute level

Return to Toronto Raptors
