The Pelicans have been pretty clear for a while that they want to get Zion into the playoffs.

You can debate whether that's the right course of action or not, but it seems to be the course they have chosen. So I doubt they trade their second best player for draft picks.

That said:
1) things can change
2) I am quite often wrong
so we'll see :D

To be fair, Kyle Neubeck says that how:
Indy
Portland
Sac
Minnesota
have faired all make Simmons more attractive. to each team. And he must be impartial, because it just sounds so damn right.

The Clippers have no juice on O.

I could see them trying to do something like Kennard, Bledsoe, Keon Johnson/Boston and a 1st rounder for McCollum. Portland saves 18M a year, gets a decent 2 guard on a decent deal, a young wing prospect where they're short and a first rounder.

Or maybe it's a 3 teamer with Bledsoe and the 1st going to Sacto for Harrison Barnes if the Kings fall out of the play-in race. Dame-Powell-Kennard-Barnes-Nance-Covington-Nurkic looks way more balanced, the Kings get a first rounder for Barnes and the Clippers get someone who can score outside of George, and can play McCollum-George-Kawhi with a center and then either another wing like Batum or Mann or even Reggie Jackson when they go smaller with Kawhi or George at the 4.
Where's the D?

Solid ideas, in your first trade am tryin to see how Por saves 18 mil? and how would you structure the 3-way with Barnes going to Por?

Sabonis to Detroit may be my favorite Sabonis fake trade. Something like Hayes+Kelly O+Stew+picks for him. A Cade-shooter-Bey-Grant-Sabonis lineup would be very fun.

Detroit’s got a ton of seconds but can’t really trade a single first due to the protections on their pick to OKC.

But otherwise, what’s that do for Indy?

Stewart seems like a nice piece, beyond that borderline psychopathic incident from a few weeks back. Hayes still has “potential” and Olynyk seems like the kind of vet you could swing for added value if you weren’t interested in keeping him.

But ultimately that’s more of a rebuilding package, so it’s only interesting if that’s the path Indiana wants to go.

Honestly, I don’t consider that even interesting. Stewart isn’t terrible, but the Pacers already have 2 young centers who they are itching to get minutes for (Jackson and Goga). Hayes has been a major disappointment, and I don’t see him as anything more than a backup at best on a middling team. Olynyk is fine, but there’s no need for another center. I think there are at least 20 teams that could beat this offer, if not more.

But we don’t need to invest in a prospect center. Again, if we want to split up the centers, why is the centerpiece coming back two lesser centers? And we still have Turner, Goga, and Jackson after this deal, so we’d have 5 guys at center.

And does Hayes still have the value of “high potential”? Or is he more of a reclamation project at this point? And with the inability to trade any 1sts, there’s just no reason for Indy to make this deal. It’s not that Stewart isn’t an interesting value. He is. Just definitely not to Indy.

Olynyk may have value (I'm not sure that he does), but I wouldn't want him on my team whatsoever.

Hayes could be interesting. I don't think we'd be able to develop him. Stewart needs to go elsewhere for value.

Very mature posting behavior.

It's also funny that for posters always clamoring for quality discussions, my entire reasoning beyond this one report was not only not acknowledged but deliberately misrepresented. I used to have a lot of respect for you as a poster but unfortunately you seem to have chosen to move into a different direction with your some of your posts recently (not even related to exchanges with me, to be clear).

Either way, that's now off-topic and I leave you guys to it on this board.

What are you talking about? I'm literally mocking myself after everyone pointed out flaws with my Simmons prediction. None of this had anything remotely to do with you.

I even specifically defended you on your original post.

I mean losing respect for me for defending you and mocking myself is your right, but.....

Maybe only reports that you'd like to be true or are in line with what you guess a franchise wants to do are relevant on here. :dontknow:

Nobody minds you posting it.

I'll be honest though when I saw the source my first thought was the same as money's--this is an attempt to bolster a distressed asset. But giberish makes a great point, that the most likely scenario for every player is they won't be traded and this guy has had it especially rough with being hurt, playing poorly when he did play, and lots of trade speculation. So smart to reassure him and let him focus on rehab and basketball.

But its naive for any of to take any reporting at face value. Particularly when its from a source we know is willing to tote mail for a franchise. You are allowed to take it at face value and Whalers is allowed to scoff at that. But a reminder to all because this gets lost a lot here for some reason--just because a moderator expresses a personal opinion in no way is them attempting to control the narrative.

Here is a reminder of my response to you. Let me highlight some key elements.

Chuck, what was your Simmons projection and how has it evolved? Serious question (too lazy to read the whole tread).

No one misrepresented you. They fully disagreed and said so. That will happen.

But for the part that wasn't really discussed, you seem to be claiming that finances would be a big reason, implying the W's cannot afford Miles Turner versus Wiseman? Given Wiseman's large salary, that would be saying an extra 8m in salary isn't okay for a clear massive upgrade.

And if so, it would fly in the face with what we saw about Oubre last year, and probably should open up some questions about if the team can afford and should keep Wiggins.

It's one page back. But I was saying I don't put a ton of stock in Woj/Lowe's report that Simmons talks are heating up, but if I'm wrong and that's legit I was calling my shot that Simmons ended up with the Wolves and the Sixers settled on Ingram as the return. Whalers and loserX pointed out some flaws with my idea so I mocked myself which seemed crystal clear in the context of the thread at the time, but clearly managed to offend another poster. Whatcha gonna do?
