Wonder if they were hanging on last road trip in NY.

I think he's great, broadcast was flat last night without him. He's got character.
I like his podcast as well, wish I had more time to listen to it. I'm trying to find time for Jason Goffs too.
We're winning and relevant, people are talking about us!

Goff was absolutely HORRENDOUS when paired with Bernstein on the radio. Talk about all time bad radio. He's still cringe when he goes on 670 the score IMO. But he's much better in his current role.

The real problem with the Goff/Bernstein pairing was they were two guys who loved to get political during a sports talk broadcast. So they would go on and on and on about things not related to sports. Normally, either would have someone partnered with them to kind of reign it in and keep focus, or just kill it before it went on too long.

Only to be ruined by Wennington saying something so unbelievably uncool right after.

I thought wennington and Adam had better chemistry than Adam and Stacey. Same thing with benetti and Stacey. They need to figure it out.

Seriously?

It was an incredibly boring broadcast. It might as well have been a mid-February battle between two bottom-feeders given all of the emotion that came out of my speakers.

I swear, some of y'all were apparently YUGE fans of monotone college lectures about Bablylonian royalty and their import on modern religion.

When Jason was down here in ATL on the local sports radio, he spent some time paired with a partner and some time on his own. He was good with the partner but, man, he really shined when he was by himself. That dude can talk and talk and talk while making solid points along the way. Miss being able to tune in to hear him these days.

I'm dialing in to watch a Basketball game. NOT the Stacy King Variety show. Don't want to see him, joke, sing, and maybe even dance. If that's your idea of entertainment. well enjoy, I guess. No thanks.

after 2 games with wennington i kinda miss stacy. wennington is not bad but it's kind of boring to listen to. it may be because on ilp the stadium noise is so overloaded that it's difficult to hear his soft voice. i've been thinking about. complaining about the sound compilation, now it even makes more sense.

Did you hear the famous salsa incident?

His problem with Bernstein was, first that Dan was a caricature of himself at that point and Goff was doing an impersonation of him. It was rough all over. He was always better when he was hosting with Boers imho.

Stacey is back and in mid season form baby.

This is an entertaining broadcast...especially with Amin sticking to the straight man role for the most part.

To my surprise, I enjoyed having him back. When he's not being a downer by nagging at the referees or constantly second-guessing the players with backseat coaching, he's a barrel of fun. I tend to forget how good be can be because of the many times when he descends into bad, but truly he is a talented announcer.

Stacey wears on me at times, but after seeing the replacements, you really appreciate that he is a notch above them.

Since I started this thread I should chime in as well. It was great having him back. It was fun. Bill Wennington is like listening to a guy calling a game from a suicide watch safe room.

Glad he is healthy and back.

My issue with Stacey is his being so repetitive. Once in the pre game and at least twice in the first half he repeated that the media keeps asking about what's wrong with the Lakers that they can't win and they should be looking at the Bulls and how good they are playing being 2nd in the East. OK you made your point, move on

First off I don't really care about the replacements. They are the backups for a reason. Moving on, Stacey doesn't put any effort into his job. He doesn't research other players or teams or hell even Chicago beyond a superficial average fan's level. He can point out a bad rotation or a bad decision but so can the average fan when slowed down on replay. This stuff isn't rocket science. As you said he repeats himself endlessly. He's got a few talking points "Bulls can't get complecent here" or "Zach just gotta let the game come to him, he's got help now" or "Ayo just has to slow down a bit there and find his veteran". He probably just writes a few things down pre game that he wants to talk about and that's the extent of his research.

But all that's fine, that's par for the course for broadcasters, most of them are hired because they are a former player or coach and have that cache with the average fan. But what really gets me about Stacey is just how mean he can. The cat barber stuff last night, like wtf? Going on and on about his name just isn't cool. And he picks on random opposing players constantly. Talk up the Bulls man, both sides are full of professional players.

The hypocrisy of a mediocre player (at best) that never worked on his game, never game much of a damn on the court, never really got into good shape -- critiquing players so harshly just rubs me the wrong way man. Like if King wasn't born 6-10 with a little lateral agility he wouldn't have sniffed the NBA. I'm not saying King wasn't a worker, he certainly worked to get to the NBA, but so did all the guys he's yelling on and on about how bad they are. Just praise our team man.

This thread is still going? Of all the things to b*tch and moan about in the world...

Bunch of judgmental people in here. I'm sure you all were or are the Jordans of your careers right. Stacey is being Stacey, it's what makes him unique whether you like him or you don't. He's not following your scripts. If he did he wouldn't be Stacey. If you don't like him I believe you can actually pay to listen to the other team's broadcast crew(enjoy that). I'm sure you all can do his job better than he does but you need to get over yourselves. Bunch of whiners.

I am glad Stacey is healthy and back to doing what he enjoys. However, I am still hoping for a complete broadcasting overhaul. Just because the backups are not great does not mean that Stacey is the top prize either. Sure, it could be worse, but it could also be a whole lot better.

An ironic post, given that Stacey constantly undermines the league's referees.
