of course it was a mistake.

that being said, the bigger picture for the long term fiscal health of the roster is what really matters...not necessarily repeating this year. but yeah, definitely a mistake. they literally have nobody on the roster who can fill that role as well as he did.

Have to give Horst so much credit for this roster. Portis (26), Allen (26), Connaughton (28), DDV (24) are all assets matching Giannis's peak age-wise. Middleton (30) and Holiday (31) are no longer ascending players but it's reasonable to expect at least 2 more elite years from each of them and maybe more given their play style. The hole on the roster, now and into the future is center which is maybe the least expensive slot to replace and Giannis has shown he can be great in the small ball 5 role.

Let's see what Horst can pull off at center. I think the player archetype that the Bucks (and every team) could use is a bigger wing ala Mikal Bridges. It would give us so much defensive versatility and give Khris a bit of a break from guarding the elite SFs.

Is Hernagomez any good? Seems to have a nice skillset that could pair well on this team.

the take fouls in the ECF from the Hawks sent me over the edge.

i'm ready to lose it on the NBA with this silliness.

If it were realistic I'd take Turner all day. He's only 25 and has upside, along with elite rim protection and athleticism. Gianni does most of the posting up anyway. I'm sure under Bud's tutelage Turner could learn hedge and recover. But, unlikely to happen anyway.

Our 5 worst performing players this season, who remain on the roster (per 82 Games' metric):

1. Thanasis, sf/pf
2. Ojeleye, sf/pf
3. Mamu, pf
4. Hood, sf/sg
5. Nwora, sf/pf
http://www.82games.com/2122/2122MIL.HTM

That tells you our biggest need. A lot more focus should be on brainstorming sf/pf solutions, than C 1's. Portis is good. He complements Giannis, who can also play C. Cousins has been an adequate minute-eater. And Lopez could be back eventually.

Is there any chance the Mavs would trade Finney-Smith for DiVo, Mamu/Nwora, & a 2nd?

We may run a hedge-and-recover scheme in the absence of Brook, but we were running a drop scheme for several seasons. Giannis is the best help defender in the NBA. If we wanna maximize his effectiveness on D, we should pair him with a rim protector. Likewise, if we wanna maximize his effectivenss on offense, we should surround him with shooters. Long story short, we need a drop big who can stretch the floor. With this in mind, I'd focus on 2 advanced stats: BLK% and 3PAr. Here are the league leaders for the 2021/22 season.

BLK%
1. Turner 8.0
2. Gafford 7.8
3. Bamba 7.2

3PAr (Centers only)
1. Muscala 65.8
2. Mo Wagner 63.3
3. Turner 53.6
(...)
8. Bamba 43.7

Bamba is a poor man's Turner. He ain't exactly a win-now player, but he'd fit our system like a glove! I bet we can acquire him on the cheap as well.

Frankly, those stats just make him look like a poor Turner.

I saw a post on bobbys IG saying he's one of only three players averaging:

15 ppg
8 rpg
Shooting 40% from three.

(and he's the only one doing it in under 30 minutes)

Thaddeus Young as a backup forward that can play some small ball 5?

I'd much rather have Donte than Bamba personally.

Bout time they worked like the rest of us! [clenched fist ABRAHAM SIMPSON]

Meanwhile the Bulls have delayed games because their roster has been diminished to 8 via Covid.

It's our only 5/7 stretch of the season. Get it over with in December.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This has been a boring uninspiring regular season. Thought I’d enjoy it more being defending champs but injuries and terrible losses have ruined the enjoyment of this season thus far. Hopefully everyone is back for the playoffs.
