Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
I didn't like Barrett as a prospect either. And through 3 years, my suspicions that he'd never be a good defender have been confirmed.
But now, I think a value addition has presented itself. Barrett hasn't scored enough to get a max extension and has regressed in year 3, possibly making his drafting team question if he's a longterm building block for them.
Barrett has the size, willingness to space, and ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays to be a really valuable offensive player. I'd be shocked if he isn't a perennial 20+ ppg in scorer beginning a year or two from now. One that you might be able to have locked up on a very team friendly deal in the $20m per year range.

It's really hard to get guys that are trending up. I like the idea of trying to poach a guy who is in a small bit of a plateau or slight regression. Especially if you have faith in their skillset.
2019 Draft
Not going to get:
- Zion Williamson
- Ja Morant
- Tyler Herro
- Darius Garland
Might be able to get:
- R.J. Barrett
- Coby White

I don't see the Knicks taking anything short of Ben Simmons for him, though. I wouldn't trade Ben for Barrett.

Since Paul Reed and Matisse Thybulle don't seem to want to help us on offense, are there any defensive players that can space the floor that we can bring in to help make us more of a complete team?
Cam Reddish would be the gold standard of the kind of trade I'm talking about.

I've been trying not to jump the gun, because filler contracts are almost eligible to be traded, but..
Someone needs to tell me what the Sixers are trying to accomplish this year. Simmons is still here, Harris is still here, and Embiid hasn't been medically redshirted.
If they really think they are trying to win a championship this year... I'm torn on whether they are completely blind or straight up dumb as hell.

Here's a (potentially) huge part of the problem - Harris is seen as a core piece.
If that is truly the case (and we've seen or heard nothing that says it isn't so), we are in big trouble.

If that is truly the case, the whole team is screwed.
I have to assume Morey is too smart for that, though.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
I think it is obvious what the team/Morey is doing. Trying to compete and hope to find a trade to improve the team. You cant just redshirt Embiid, hoping to get a high pick and find a trade in the offseason, during his prime years, he will not accept it. Now if Embiid gets one of his usual injuries in February-March and we are not going anywhere, i could see it. Now it is too early and there is the hope that we will find a good trade for Simmons.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread
Orlando can offer us franchise salvation.
Cole Anthony
Terence Ross
Gary Harris
That's $36m is salary coming back. Send out Simmons and Milton.
Cole Anthony is next superstar guard in this league. Ross is useful. Harris is expiring.

Why would Orlando want Simmons though? Unless a third team is involved which would take him, I don't see this happening.

Look at Jeff Weltman's draft history. He's predisposition to drafting defensive players. Ben Simmons is right up his alley.

Love the 3 way effort, but no shot TOR does that.
The Houston idea, however, has real merit and I think that a deal like that could get done.

Something like
Tobias, T. Prince, Beverley, 2022, 2024, 2026 picks (via Minny) and 2023 (Hou via BKN) to SAC
Ben + Gordon to Minny
Beasley, Springer, McDaniels to Hou
Fox, Curry, Shake, Phi 2022 1st to WAS
Beal, Barnes, Hield to PHI
Salaries work. Roll out
Maxey Beal Green Barnes Embiid
With
Furk Hield Matisse Niang Drummond off bench

Think OG is too much in general? I’m hoping Toronto will be open to trading him just because OG and Scottie Barnes are somewhat redundant…obviously there are much worse problems to have tho. If the Toronto interest in Ben is true who do you think they’d be willing to trade?

Tobi and Green to Houston for Wall and Ja’Sean Tate
3 Team-
Sixers trade: Ben, Shake, and Niang
Sixers Get: Sabonnis, Hield, Pacers ‘22 1st top 8 protected (top 5 ‘23), Kings ‘22 2nd
Pacers Trade: Sabonnis, Warren, ‘22 top 8 protected 1st (‘23 top 5 protected)
Pacers Get: Ben
Kings Trade: Buddy Hield, ‘22 2nd

Hield
Sabonnis
Jo
Maxey
Thybulle
Tate
Drummond
Korkmaz
Reed
Defense would be questionable for sure, but the spacing and movement of that offense is drool worthy compared to what we are used to. Thybulle and Tate on the bench to replace Curry/Wall in key situations as D stoppers too. Also would need a buyout PF too.

I would, although not 100% sure of the fit with Joel
Here’s a better 1….Kevin Love? Would be essentially dumping Tobi for Love being an expiring contract going into the off-season.
Could possibly squeeze Cedi Osman out of them as well. Tobi and Isiah Joe for Love and Osman works
Even if this season is a complete dud, having the expiring contracts of Love and Green this off season would be far better ammo for Morey to set up trades than we have now.
It’s hard to condone punting a season in what could be Jo’s dwindling prime, but it’s clear Tobi is a sunk cost. Any opportunity to get out of his contract should be explored
